Days Of Our Lives Is Officially Canceled On NBC. It’s Moving To Peacock Network

Hey, “Days Of Our Lives” fans. We’ve got some very important news for you guys in regards to your favorite soap opera Days Of Our Lives. It turns out that NBC has finally decided to pull the plug on airing it in its usual Daytime time slot. In other words, NBC has canceled Days Of Our Lives.

However, the show will live on. They’ve decided to move it to their Peacock Premium streaming network, and you’ll have to pay $4.99 a month if you want to keep watching it.

The folks over at TVLine ran this report about 6 days ago. They’re saying that the start date for this new transition will begin on Monday, September 12, 2022. That will mark the end of a super-long, 57-year run of the show on the NBC network.

Mark Lazarus who is the chairman of NBCUniversal commented on the shift. According to him, this move will benefit both NBC and the Peacock network. He stated, “This programming shift benefits both Peacock and NBC and is reflective of our broader strategy to utilize our portfolio to maximize reach and strengthen engagement with viewers.

With a large percentage of the Days of Our Lives audience already watching digitally, this move enables us to build the show’s loyal fanbase on streaming while simultaneously bolstering the network daytime offering with an urgent, live programming opportunity for partners and consumers.”

TVline.com went on to state that Days Of Our Lives is going to be replaced by a new, one-hour news program called, “NBC News Daily.”

The folks over at Thewrap.com revealed that Days of Our Lives director Scott McKinsey recently went on Facebook and told fans that this move to the Peacock network actually saved Days Of Our Lives from being gone for good.

He wrote, “the show has not been canceled, and/or ‘picked up’ by Peacock. This is a big difference from the sad demise of ABC’s ‘One Life to Live’ and ‘All My Children.’ All of your favorite characters will remain on the show for the foreseeable future. In fact, the prospect of ‘Days’ remaining in production for the long term just increased as a result of this move. Without Peacock, ‘Days’ might have been numbered on the Network.”

Scott went on to say, “I understand Peoples’ sour reaction to being asked for money to remain viewers, but let’s look at the positives. The monthly subscription includes access to every show DOOL has ever aired, as I understand it. It allows you to watch a new episode anywhere you have internet access. So you don’t have to view it on your DVR at home, or lose the episode because your DVR is full, or because the network preempted it for a car chase!”

Days Of Our Lives 2021-2022 season is currently averaging just 1.681 million LIVE viewers per episode, and a 0.26 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics on NBC. During one of the more recent weeks of July 25, 2022, it averaged 1.670 million LIVE viewers, and a 0.20 ratings score.

Currently, Days Of Our Lives is still airing Monday through Friday on NBC in the 1 pm central standard time slot. Again, it’s set to air only on the Peacock network, starting on September 12, 2022.

It was a mediocre soap with some really stupid storylines. I only watched occasionally. I won’t be paying Peacock prices.
