New Amsterdam Season 5 January 17, 2023 Episodes 12 & 13 Are The Finale. Season 6 Not Happening
Hey, “New Amsterdam” fans. We hope you guys totally enjoyed and savored every minute of what episodes 12 and 13 delivered tonight because they were indeed the season 5 finale episodes. Not only that, they are officially confirmed to be the actual series finale episodes. That means they are the very last episodes forever.
Yep, unfortunately, it was revealed by NBC back on September 15, 2022 that season 5 is indeed wrapping up the series for good.
Lisa Katz who is the president of scripted programming for NBCUniversal Television had some wonderful things to say about the show and its staff during the series-ending announcement saying, “The story of Max Goodwin, and his never-ending commitment to patients at New Amsterdam, has been inspiring. We’re so grateful to [creator/executive producer] David Schulner,director/executive producer Peter Horton, and our cast and crew for their incredible dedication, talent, and collaboration.”
Erin Underhill who is the president of Universal Television, also had some very delightful things to say about New Amsterdam during the show-ending announcement. He stated, “When I first read the pilot script for New Amsterdam, I knew we had a winner. We cheered Max’s disruption of the status quo and applauded when he asked his patients the simple yet profound question, ‘How can I help?’
Over the last four seasons, David, Peter, and our incredible cast have tackled important and thought-provoking stories that have touched on the human condition, but also made us laugh and imbued hope. We’re so proud of this series and are indebted to everyone involved in bringing New Amsterdam to life. Bravo!”
New Amsterdam’s final season 5 delivered an average of 2.756 million LIVE viewers per episode, and a 0.30 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics. The most recent episode 11, which aired back on January 3, 2023, drew in 2.370 million LIVE viewers, and a 0.28 ratings score. RIP (Rest In Peace) New Amsterdam.
