MasterChef July 19, 2023 Eliminated Ryan Walker (Recap)

Hey, “MasterChef” fans. Tonight, July 19, 2023, another new episode of MasterChef’s current season 13 did indeed show up with judges: Joe Bastianich, Gordon Ramsay, and Aarón Sánchez, and another unlucky contestant got the boot at the end.

Tonight’s new episode kicked off with the contestants showing up to the Ventura Fire Department to greet the judges who told them they would have to cook a lunch for 101 firefigters in their next challenge. They were split up into two teams for this challenge, and the winning team got safety from elimination.

Since Jennifer won the last challenge, she was safe from elimination in this challenge, but she still participated in it since it was a team challenge. She also got to pick which regions should pair up with each other. She decided that her South team should pair up with the Midwest team aka the Red team, leaving the Northeast to pair up with the West team aka the Blue team.

There were team captains for this challenge. Jennifer was team captain for the Red team, and Brynn was team captain for the Blue team. They were given 75 minutes to complete this task.

The Red team agreed to cook up a steak and potatoes dish. The Blue team decided to go with a pork chops dish. Ryan told the private cams, “I think it was a huge mistake to go with the pork chops because it’s so much harder to cook this many pork chops with this thickness in this amount of time.

Eventually, the Blue and Red teams had to serve up a sample meal to the judges before cooking it for the firefighters. The Blue team presented a Ancho Rubbed Pork Chop with Avocado Crema, Citrus Slaw, Black Eyed Pea Salad and Cornbread Muffin dish. Joe said, “One of the pork chops is overseared.” Gordon said the black eyed peas and other things were delicious.

The Red team presented a New York Strip steak with Chimichurri Sauce, Glazed Carrots, Mashed Potato and Compound Butter dish. Gordon said, “The steak is cooked beautifully.” Joe said, “The mashed potatoes are raw.” Joe jumped down Jennifer’s throat for even serving up the raw mashed potatoes to them saying, “You thought that was a good decision?” She said,”It apparently was not.”

Grant was the one who undercooked the mashed potatoes. So, he got an earful about it. He told the private cams that he was having trouble getting the water hot enough. There was also some complaints about cold carrots from the red team. Gordon told them, “We’re serving Firefighters, not Eskimos.”

As the challenge continued, things got worse for Greg when he served up a couple of raw pork chops to the firefighters who complained about it. Grant kept getting more complaints from Gordon about lumpy mash potatoes. Grant told the private cams, “I gotta get these mash potatoes right. I can’t go home because of mash potatoes.”

Charles got a complaint about a raw New York strip steak from Gordon. Ryan got more complaints about the pork chops. At one point, the Red team ran out of potatoes. So, they tried to replace them with mushrooms. Towards the end, Gordon told the Blue team that they were not fast enough and would not be able to complete their entire service in time, which was a first in MasterChef history.

However, there was still a sliver of hope that the Blue team could still win this challenge if they got enough votes from the firefighters they did serve meals to. Unfortunately for them, that was not the case. The Red team totally got the victory by getting the most votes.

Since Jennifer was the captain of the winning Red team, she was awarded an advantage in the next challenge. Since the Blue team lost, a person from their team had to get eliminated. The judges decided that Ryan, Brynn and James were the worst performers on the team. So, they were the bottom 3.

Ultimately, the judges decided that Ryan should get eliminated due to his poor performance with the pork chops. Gordon told Ryan, “Today, you feel flat, but we hope you continue your journey.”

Ryan told the private cams, “I take full responsibility. I knew the risk. It’s a blessing to have made it this far. The future is definitely bright for me.” How do you guys feel about Ryan Walker getting eliminated from MasterChef season 13 in tonight’s episode? Let us know in the comments section.
