American Idol April 21, 2024 Eliminated Jordan Anthony & Nya. Top 12 Revealed (Recap)

Hey, “American Idol” fans. Tonight, April 21, 2024, another new, LIVE, performances/results episode of American Idol season 22 did indeed air, and we found out who made it into the top 12 when it was all said and done.

The celebrity judges: Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan were all on hand once again. The theme for tonight’s new episode was Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame. The contestants only performed songs from artists that have been inducted into the Rock N’ Roll Hall Of Fame.

Tonight’s new episode kicked off with judge Luke Bryan hitting the stage to sing the song, “Small Town” by John Mellencamp.

Next, the contestants delivered their performances, starting with Triston Harper. He sang, “Heartbreak Hotel” by Elvis Presley. Afterwards, Katy said, “The people are already in love with you. You scared me and you scared your mother.” Luke said, “That was tremendous and perfectly done.” Lionel said, “That was excellent.”

Julia Gagnon sang, “Run to You” by Whitney Houston. Afterwards, Luke said, “Your transformation and growth is just so inspiring to watch. It’s why this show has been on the air for so long. That was amazing.” Lionel said, “You commanded that stage tonight. Absolutely beautiful.” Katy said, “Confidence is a mental decision, and you decided to switch it on.”

Roman Collins performed, “You’re All I Need to Get By” by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. Afterwards, Lionel said, “You were on fire. You made that song your song.” Katy said, “Everything you do is authentically you. You are my favorite person to watch and hear.” Luke said, “Your talent level is as good as anything I’ve seen in this chair. You bring it every time.”

Kaibrienne sang, “I Hate Myself for Loving You” by Joan Jett. Afterwards, Katy said, “You’re a rock star!” Luke said, “That was a concert. You morphed into a whole different human being.” Lionel said, “Gene taught you something that is absolutely imperative. That ugly face is exactly what was needed in that song.”

Jayne Elise sang, “I Have Nothing” by Whitney Houston. Afterwards, Luke said, “Way to show up. Your whole presentation was perfect.” Lionel said, “You look like a star. You act like a star. You are a star.” Katy said, “You have Big Star Energy.”

Mia Matthews performed “Those Memories of You” by Linda Ronstadt, Dolly Parton and EmmyLou Harris. Afterwards, Lionel said, “Everybody is coming out shining like a new penny.” Katy said, “You bumped up your performance real good.” Luke said, “Iron sharpens iron. You guys are showing up.”

Kayko sang, “High and Dry” by Radiohead. Afterwards, Katy said, “You did it such justice. I believe in you.” Luke said, “You really dug into showing the world your artistry.” Lionel said, “You are so versatile. What else can you do? It’s fabulous.”

Emmy Russell sang, “I Can’t Make You Love Me” by Bonnie Raitt. Afterwards, Luke said, “The realness of your voice is so listenable. It’s very special.” Lionel said, “That was great.” Katy said, “You’re not competing against any of those people. You’re competing against yourself. Tonight, you won.”

Jordan Anthony sang, “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” by Whitney Houston. Afterwards, Lionel said, “Until you grabbed that microphone, you let go. Enjoy this moment.” Katy said, “I like that jazz chord you ended the performance on. I think this is your best performance so far. You’ve gown so much.” Luke said, “You nailed it from top to finish.”

McKenna Faith Breinholt sang, “It’s Hard to Say I’m Sorry” by Chicago. Afterwards, Gene chimed in saying, “I’ve got nothing to say to you. You felt the entire thing. That’s what a star is.” Katy said, “We’re all human, but it’s ok.” Lionel said, “That’s called a sexy sounding performance.”

Jack Blocker performed, “Don’t Think Twice. It’s Alright” by Bob Dylan. Afterwards, Luke said, “You’re staying true to what you are and growing like crazy.” Lionel said, “You made a Bob Dylan song your song.” Katy said, “You have just grown into your authentic self. You’re just so cool. I was wrong. You’re the coolest.”

Nya sang, “Say A Little Prayer” by Aretha Franklin. Afterwards, Lionel said, “You are a star. This lady is amazing.” Katy said, “I think this is the best performance you’ve ever done. You did it so well.” Luke said, “You did it so effortless and so smooth.”

Will Moseley sang, “Night Moves” by Bob Seger. Afterwards, Katy said, “Way to go big mo. You showed your sensitive side tonight. I love you,” Luke said, “You’re picking songs that are true to you. You know who you are as an artist.” Lionel said, “You picked the perfect song. Enjoy this because you killed that.”

Abi Carter capped off tonight’s performances by singing, “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” by Elton John. Afterwards, Luke said, “You just held the whole room. That is pro. Far beyond your age.” Lionel said, “If you want anyone to win, you have to vote. It’s a great class.” Katy said, “From day one, it’s always been you. Tonight, it’s always been you. You sing with such an angelic frequency.”

After all of that, host Ryan Seacrest revealed that everyone made it through to the top 12 except for poor Jordan Anthony and Nya. They were eliminated.

That means: Roman Collins, Mia Matthews, Triston Harper, Julia Gagnon, Jack Blocker, Jayna Elise, McKenna Faith Reinholt, Kaibrienne, Emmy Russell, Abi Carter, Will Moseley and Kayko are your top 12 ,and they will perform for the top 10 in tomorrow night’s new episode.
