New ‘Once Upon A Time’ Season 7 Is Bringing On A New Princess Tiana For Action
According to a new report from the folks over at TV Line, The “Once Upon A Time” season 7 crew have decided to hire actress Mekia Cox to portray a new princess named Tiana. The photo above is a first-look at her. She’s the one on your very far left. They say she’s scheduled to make her first appearance in the 3rd episode of the new season which is titled, “The Garden Of Forking Paths.”
She will first appear as the Princess and the Frog heroine. The scene in the above photo shows her having a run-in with characters Henry Mills, The Evil Queen and Captain Hook. The producers of the show Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis gave TV Line a bit of a description of Tiana.
Apparently, she’ll be in the midst of trying to restore freedom to her people in a different fairy tale realm. They stated, “We meet Tiana in a fairy tale realm in turmoil. She’s a princess with a mission to restore freedom to her people.”
They also revealed that Tiana will have great mental strength and good share of enemies. They explained, “Tiana’s most defining characteristic is her strength. She’s been through a lot when we meet her, but she never wavers even when doubting oneself would seem to be the most logical and safe course of action. She has her share of enemies but that goes with the territory when one is fighting for a just cause.”
They say Tiana will be a season regular character for the new season. They’re also going to bring on CW Riverdale actress Robin Givens to guest star as Tiana’s mother Eudora. Eudora is described as being a benevolent noblewoman that is now facing financial disaster.
Mekia Cox’s acting resume includes roles in: Chicago Med, Secrets and Lies, Impastor, Modern Family, Grey’s Anatomy, Gotham, Almost Human, Mob City, Necessary Roughness, Undercovers, The Mentalist, 90201, Bones, One Tree Hill, Half & Half, CSI: NY and many more. She’s been a very busy actress and has a pretty impressive work history. Welcome her aboard.
As previously reported, season 7 will feature a brand new curse and a new main town called Hyperion Heights and Cinderella’s evil stepmother Lady Tremaine will be the new big bad. Meanwhile, Regina will take on a new cursed persona as bartender Ronnie. Hook will also have a cursed persona as a uniformed police officer. We haven’t seen what his new cursed name is yet.
Characters Emma Swan and Belle are supposed to show up in the premiere episode 1. However, that’s the only episode they’re currently scheduled to be in. It’s revealed that they will interact with various Storybrooke characters during their appearance. It was not confirmed if they’ll interact with any of the new characters.
