Top critics gave ‘Sex And The City 2’ movie below average reviews. New Line Cinema released their sequel romantic/comedy flick “Sex And The City 2” in theaters today,and most of the top movie critics gave it less-than-stellar reviews with Cs and Ds across the board. However, there was one who thought it was ok with a B rating. It stars: Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, Chris Noth, David Eigenberg, Evan Handler, Jason Lewis, Mario Cantone, and Willie Garson.
Ty Burr from the Boston Globe gave it a D+ rating . He said, “It’s downright depressing.” Roger Ebert over at the Chicago Sun-Times gave it a D. He stated, “I haven’t seen such hilarity since Abbott and Costello in the Foreign Legion.”
Michael Phillips at the Chicago Tribune gave it a C. He said, “why have these women, photographed drearily and insanely costumed, become full-on drag queens?” Dezhda Gaubert from E! Online gave it a C+ rating. She stated, “Sex and the City 2 has very little sex, and not a lot of city. Bad move.”
Lisa Schwarzbaum at “Entertainment Weekly” gave it a C-. She said, “Mood swings similar to those experienced by menopausal Samantha are a common side effect of exposure to Sex and the City 2.”
Sean O’Connel over at Filmcritic.com gave it a C-. He said, “it can’t seem to find time for any genuine emotion or a compelling storyline.” Stephen Farber at the “Hollywood Reporter” gave it a B-. He stated, “Overlong sequel scores some choice, politically incorrect laughs.”
Betsy Sharkey from the Los Angeles Times gave it a C-. She said, “In this second screen incarnation of the fabulous HBO series, the satire is sagging, the irony’s atrophied and the funny is flabby.”
Kyle Smith from the New York Post gave it a D. He said, “The transformation of the girls from winsome wisecrackers into whiny bling-obsessed chuckleheads is complete. A.O. Scott at the New York Times gave it another D rating. He said, “Your watch will tell you that a shade less than two and a half hours have elapsed, but you may be shocked at just how much older you feel when the whole thing is over.”
Claudia Puig from USA Today gave it a D+. She said, it was “An insult to the memory of the cleverly written show and its celebration of friendship, it’s a slap in the face for the four gal pals (often photographed at unflattering angles) and an affront to Muslims. “Sex and The City 2” movie is in theaters now.
