Top critics gave new ‘Predators’ movie average rating reviews. 20th Century Fox released their new sci-fi/action flick “Predators” into theaters today,and the top movie critics pretty much thought it was average,overall. It got mixed reviews across the board,but mostly C ratings. However, some thought it was pretty good,and it even got an A rating from one of them. I guess it’s a matter of taste with this one. It stars: Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, Alice Braga, Walton Goggins, Laurence Fishburne, Danny Trejo, Oleg Taktarov, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, and Louiz Ozawa.
Wesley Morris at the Boston Globe gave it a good A-. He said, “Director Antal is a professional who respects your dollars. In a season where the blockbusters are as flat as month-old soda, that’s the most romantic gesture a commercial filmmaker can make.”
Roger Ebert at the Chicago Sun-Times gave it a C rating. He stated, “The movie is mostly about our nasty heroes being attacked by terrifying antagonists in incomprehensible muddles of lightning-fast special effects.”
Michael Phillips over at the Chicago Tribune gave it a C. He said, it “starts well and ends poorly, and in the middle it’s in the middle.” Chris Nashawaty at Entertainment Weekly gave it a C-. He said, it’s “an uninspired mess of mediocre action scenes strung together until the final reel.”
Bill Gibron at Filmcritic.com gave it a B-. He said, “if you loved the first film and can tolerate the Arnold-less sequel, you’ll have a good time. Michael Rechtshaffen from the Hollywood Reporter gave it a C. He stated, “More is not necessarily scarier in this often lively but scattered reboot.”
Stephen Holden at the New York Times gave it a C-. He said, it was “Noisy, overstuffed with special effects and embellished with pretentious visual quotations from Apocalypse Now.” James Berardinelli at Reelviews gave it a B-. He said, it was “a passable science fiction action/adventure tale.”
Amy Biancolli from the San Francisco Chronicle gave it a D rating. He said, “None of this is scary, and nothing makes sense.” Claudia Puig at USA Today gave it a B- rating.
