Top critics gave new “Wall Street 2” movie positive reviews. 20th Century Fox released their new drama flick “Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps” into theaters today,and the top critics in the business seemed pretty pleased with the outcome,giving it positive B ratings across the board. The movie stars: Michael Douglas, Shia LaBeouf, Josh Brolin, Frank Langella, Carey Mulligan, Susan Sarandon, Vanessa Ferlito, and Charlie Sheen.
Ty Burr from the Boston Globe gave it a B-. He said, “Douglas, though, is the film’s ace in the hole.” Roger Ebert at the Chicago Sun-Times gave it a B. He stated, “a smart, glossy, beautifully photographed film that knows its way around the Street.”
Michael Phillips at the Chicago Tribune gave it a B-. He said, “has its satisfactions, thanks mainly to a cast skillful enough to finesse what is effectively two films sharing the same screen.”
Peter Paras at E! Online gave it a B. He said, “For Stone, this noisy, melodramatic investment in nostalgia and social commentary pays off,mostly.” Lisa Schwarzbaum at Entertainment Weekly gave it a C+. She stated, “A lot of Money Never Sleeps, too much, is about Gekko père’s desire to reconnect with his very angry daughter.”
Christopher Null at Filmcritic.com gave it a B+. He stated, “a story that we can all relate to, God help us.” Kirk Honeycutt at the Hollywood Reporter gave it a B+. He said, “One of the better sequels in a long time.”
A.O. Scott at the New York Times gave it a B-. He said, “This movie is by turns brilliant and dumb, naïve and wise, nowhere near good enough and something close to great.” Scott Bowles at USA Today gave it a B-. He said, “despite director Oliver Stone’s sermons, Michael Douglas is just enough to make the trip worth the money.”
