New ‘The Roommate’ Movie Delivered Lots Of Thrills & Drama
New ‘The Roommate’ movie delivered lots of thrills & drama. Screen Gems released their new horror/thriller flick “The Roommate” into theaters this weekend. I checked it out,and thought it was really good. I really liked Gossip Girls star Leighton Meester’s performance as the psycho chick. The movie stars: Leighton Meester, Minka Kelly, Cam Gigandet, Aly Michalka, Danneel Harris, Frances Fisher, and Billy Zane.
“The Roommate” revolved mostly around characters Rebecca (Leighton Meester) and Sara Matthews (Minka Kelly). Sara is a typical female college student who appears to be having a great time at college. Then one day,she gets a new roommate named Rebecca who appears very friendly at first. Well,at least to Sara, anyways.
Everyone else that Sara introduces Rebecca to,gets an evil stare,or a slightly uninterested attitude because it’s all about Sara, and only Sara when it comes to Rebecca, and nobody better do anything to make Sara upset or else Rebecca will definitely get on their case in a very disturbing way.
There wasn’t much killing in the film, but the next best thing occurred. Rebecca first threatens one of Sara’s friends after she feels she’s a bad influence. The altercation ends with Rebecca yanking the girl’s belly-button ring out. Ouch! Then she gets one of Sara’s college professors fired when Sara tells her he made a pass at her. That one wasn’t so bad.
However, things do really go a little overboard when she decides to stab her ex-boyfriend to death with a box cutter, claiming, Sara doesn’t love him anymore. This all goes on behind Sara’s back. Sara doesn’t get really suspicious until she’s tipped off that Rebecca is on medication for Schizophrenia. Sara tried to be understanding of Rebecca’s weird ways until she finds out about the schizo stuff. After that, she gets freaked. The final straw comes when Rebecca gets the exact same tattoo as Sara.
This causes Sara to move out of the dorm, leaving Rebecca all alone to get even crazier, which leads to the big thrilling conclusion that involved Rebecca,a kidnapping,Sara, a few of Sara’s friends, and a gun shootout. It was really intense and entertaining.
Although it had a pretty predictable ending,I didn’t enjoy it any less. It was a good film for me. It never had any dull moments, and delivered a lot of “edge of your seat” scenes. I really liked Leighton Meester’s performance. She’s been in a lot of films here lately. It also featured some cameo appearances from Vampire Diaries stars Nina Dobrev and Katerina Graham. I gave the movie a solid B grade. “The Roommate” movie is in theaters now. Get your “The Roommate” movie tickets by Clicking Here.
