According to a recent report from the folks over at TV Line, the new upcoming 4th season of CW’s hit show “The Flash” is going to finally introduce us to a villain that is not another speedster. They said that their sources revealed to them that the new villain will be character Clifford DeVoe who’s villain alter ego is “The Thinker.” That’s not really a fear-inflicting name but ok. We’ll roll with it.

They pointed out that the non-speedster villain had been confirmed back in March 2017 by showrunner Andrew Kreiberg at the big PaleyFest event. At the event, Andrew stated: “Next season we’re not going to have a speedster as the Big Bad.”

They also pointed out that one of the earlier “Flash” episodes actually hinted that DeVoe was coming. It was the one that featured Abra Kadabra telling Barry: “There’s Thawne, Zoom, DeVoe but none of them hurt you like Savitar.” There was another instance where Savitar mentioned DeVoe’s name saying: “This is where we came up with the cerebral inhibitor to use against DeVoe.”

In the DC Comics, DeVoe is a legal eagle-turned-supervillain who wields technologically derived telekinesis and mind control abilities. He has been the genius mastermind behind the works of other criminals as well as a onetime recruit of the Suicide Squad. The show is currently holding casting calls for the character.

The casting call describes him as being a 40 something male that one might call “the fastest mind alive.” Season 4 is set to premiere sometime this Fall 2017. We’re still waiting on the official premiere date. We suspect that the new season will offer up another 22 or 23 episodes since they got an early renewal and all. Stay tuned for that important info in the upcoming weeks.
