Very Negative Claims Are Being Made Against Big Brother And Its Viewers

According to a new report from the people over at Metro.co.uk, The Big Brother show or concept in general has received some very negative harsh criticism as of late from a pretty popular TV personality and comedian.

The claims are that this type of show preys on the mentally ill! If that’s not enough, the claims blame us fans for feeding into it!

The famous person who made these claims is comedian Ricky Gervais.

Ricky is also and actor and writer. The Metro site said that Ricky dissed Big Brother and other reality shows like X-Factor when he spoke at the Oxford Union. He said these type of shows allow mentally ill people to be sniggered by millions of viewers! He went on to say that they cause nervous breakdowns.

From there, he went on to bash us fans claiming that we like to see the drama that these reality show contestants create. He stated, “From X Factor in the preliminary rounds when they wheel out the mentally ill to be sniggered at by millions. We’re a part of that. People having proper nervous breakdowns in Big Brother. We’re all part of that. That’s what drama is. When it’s real, it’s conflict.

We don’t want to watch 12 people sitting around having a nice conversation. We want a fist fight. It appeals to the worst of our instincts I think.” After that, Ricky also claimed the situations that occur on these reality shows are contrived or made up, and that it’s no longer reality anymore.

He stated,”Reality is no longer reality. It’s not even reality anymore. It’s so contrived. Now, they condense it. They contrive situations. There’s no real reality shows anymore. It’s aimed to appeal at our voyeuristic tendencies, and we’re all guilty of it.”

The funny thing is Ricky might be right about us wanting to see all the drama. However, we don’t think everyone on these shows is mentally ill. That’s a pretty harsh statement to make.

Anyways, whatever the case, we’re still going to watch Big Brother. How about you guys? Are you still going to watch Big Brother? Or did Ricky’s comments get to you? Let us know in the comments.

Speaking of watching Big Brother, we’ve got another special season coming up this winter. It’s the first ever United States edition of Celebrity Big Brother! A couple of celebrity names are already being rumored to participate.

They are: Rock stars Sebastian Bach and Vince Neil. Model Brandi Glanville. Professional skateboarder and former Jacka** star Bam Margera, comedian Kathy Griffin, actor Neil Patrick Harris and actor Ryan Lochte. This past week, we found out one more very big and popular name was added to the rumor mix. It’s “The Walking Dead” Daryl Dixon actor Norman Reedus.

The report we found claims the actor is considering it, but nothing is confirmed. CBS hasn’t even approached him about it yet. So, it’s an extreme rumor right now. We’ll have to wait and see if anything comes of it. Stay tuned. Also, be sure to follow us on our Big Brother Facebook page for more Big Brother news by Clicking Here.
