New NCIS Season 16 Agent Gibbs Is Getting A New Role

Hey NCIS fans. We’ve got some more pretty interesting news for the upcoming 16th season of your favorite show. CBS recently put out the very first press release for the season 16 premiere episode 1. The press release gives a brief teaser description of the episode, a title along with some guest stars and main cast credits.

It turns out that we’re going to see Gibbs taking on a new role this season since Director Vance has been kidnapped. Yep, that’s right guys. Gibbs will be the new acting director while Vance is missing in action. We’re also going to see the NCIS crew go on a major worldwide search for Vance to kick off this brand new season. There’s also going to be a little bit of a timeline jump as the season 16 timeline will be set one month after where the season 15 finale episode ended.

CBS’ official teaser description tells us ,”One month after Director Vance was kidnapped, Gibbs is assigned the role of acting director in his absence while the team searches worldwide for his whereabouts on the 16th season premiere of NCIS.”

An alternate description reads like this, “Vance is still missing. Gibbs is the acting director in his absence, and the team searches tirelessly for their kidnapped leader.” The title for the premiere episode of season 16 is “Destiny’s Child.”

I guess the big looming questions for this particular plotline is will the NCIS crew be able to ever track down Vance? If so, how long is it going to take them? CBS definitely didn’t give any of that important information away. So, only time will tell for now.

The premiere episode 1 will feature season regular castmembers: Mark Harmon as character (NCIS Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs),Sean Murray as character (NCIS Special Agent Timothy McGee), Emily Wickersham as character (NCIS Special Agent Eleanor “Ellie” Bishop), Wilmer Valderrama as character (NCIS Special Agent Nicholas “Nick” Torres), Maria Bello as character (NCIS Special Agent Jaqueline “Jack” Sloane), Brian Dietzen as character (Dr. Jimmy Palmer), Diona Reasonover as character (Forensic Scientist Kasie Hines), Rocky Carroll as character (NCIS Director Leon Vance) and David McCallum as character (Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard).

The premiere episode will also feature a lot of guest stars this season. They are: Pej Vahdat as character (Nigel Hakim), Robin Karfo as character (Zaiyema), Keon Alexander as character (CIA Special Agent Nazy Rickman),Naomi Grace as character (Kayla Vance), Alexa Hamilton as character (British Deputy Ambassador Sybil Rigg),Chad Lindberg as character (Joey Peanuts), James A. Watson, Jr. as character (Navy Vice Admiral Richard Hasley).

Jim Meskimen as character (Doctor Farrel Emerson), Rob Mainord as character (Myron Holt), Lauren September as character (Emma Thatcher), Cory Jacob as character (NCIS Special Agent Rod Beecham), Jessica Gardner as character (Olivia Kahn) and Danielle Rayne as character (Marine Colonel Leah Siffler).

The premiere episode was written by Steven D. Binder, and it was directed by Tony Wharmby. CBS also released a couple of promotional photos for the season 16 premiere episode. We’ve included one of them (above). Gibbs and Bishop are seen together in one of the photos.

McGee and Bishop are also seen together in a couple of the photos. Agent Torres is spotted solo in one of the pics. Gibbs and McGee are seen in a couple of the photos.
