Legacies Season 2 To Feature More Monster Of The Week Episodes And More
Hey, fellow “Legacies” fans. We’re back at you with another Legacies season 2 article. The other one we recently ran, went really well! Apparently, a lot of you guys really want to know what’s up next for Hope and the rest of the supernatural Legacies gang when the Fall 2019 rolls around. Well, I’m happy to say we have a bit of extra insight to share in this article.
The folks over at Entertainment Weekly recently got to chat up the main executive producer of Legacies, Julie Plec. What we gathered from this interview is that the one thing you guys will be guaranteed to see, is the classic monster-of-the-week format that they used in season one. Julie apparently loves that format and had a lot to say about it.
She revealed that the monster-of-the-week format really makes their jobs as writers a lot more easy, fluid and fun. She stated, “We really enjoy the monster-of-the-week for a lot of reasons as writers. By having a monster in the midst of these episodes, whether it’s a monster or a spell gone awry or some kind of supernatural conflict, it makes the process of coming up with each weekly story so much more fluid and so much more enjoyable.
We’re having a lot of fun with it, and I think that the fun we’re having then permeates into the fun on the page and makes the show more of a good time overall for everyone involved.”
After that, Julie revealed that they already know exactly what they want to do with each and every character for season 2. They also plan on making it even more shocking and fresh! Unfortunately, Julie didn’t go into specifics. She said, “We’re really excited about season 2 because we already have a very clear understanding of each character’s journey for the season, and how to make the mythology seem even more surprising and even more fresh than in the first season.”
We suspect that Julie will certainly drop a lot of other season 2 spoilery details later this year. I remember covering stories for her other two hit shows ,Vampire Diaries and The Originals, and she just lets the spoilers fly. More than any executive producer I’ve ever seen.
In this interview, Julie also discussed the two wonder twins Lizzie and Josie Saltzman. During her discussion, Julie provided insight into when they will actually deal with the girls impending merge situation. It turns out that we might not see that for a very, very long time because the current timeline for when they’re supposed to merge is really far off.
Julie even went as far as to say that the merge probably wouldn’t happen until season 10! Actually, I’m more interested in Julie saying there would be a season 10. It sounds like Julie has big plans for this show.
Anyways, here’s how Julie explained the whole merge situation, “The Merge is an interesting predicament for us as writers and the girls as characters in that technically, it doesn’t happen until they’re 22, which with the way the timeline of our shows move, could be season 10.
Much in the way that we always asked ourselves, “When is Elena going to become a vampire?” in Vampire Diaries, and we rode the narrative and didn’t do it until we felt like it was right. The Merge for me is the same. It may make sense for us to pull that up and do it sooner than later, or it may be something that just hangs over these girls’ heads for the next five seasons until we get there. All I can say is that our goal when we get there is to make it count.”
Lastly, Julie revealed the same thing to Entertainment Weekly that she revealed to the TV Line guys. She definitely wants to bring back Chris Wood’s Vampire Diaries character, Kai Parker, even if it’s just for one episode!
Julie told Entertainment Weekly, “I am just going to keep layering in Kai Parker until Chris Wood feels like he’s got no choice but to come back and play in our sandbox. I would love nothing more than to see that character again. I think he’d drop perfectly into this story line, even if we just got to see him in one episode. I’m going to keep my fingers crossed and hope that I can make that work out one of these days.”
What do you guys think about that? Do you want to see Kai Parker show up on Legacies? Let us know in the comments. Also, what do you guys think about them continuing the monster-of-the- week format for season 2?
Alright guys. That’s all Entertainment Weekly was able to drag out of Julie Plec for now. I put emphasis on “for now” because we know ,without a shadow of a doubt, Julie will be dropping more spoiler scoops soon enough. You guys just need to make sure you stay tuned for all of that good stuff.
