American Idol Eliminated Walker Burroughs & Alyssa Raghu Tonight, April 28, 2019
Hey, “American Idol” fans. Happy Sunday. Your top 8 finalists definitely did compete tonight, April 28, 2019, and after it was all said and done, only 6 were left standing. They performed songs from the Queen catalog. Former season 8 runner up and current Queen lead singer ,Adam Lambert, mentored the Idol finalists this week.
The viewing audience ,once again, watched LIVE and voted simultaneously to ultimately vote out two unfortunate contestants. The judges: Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan were, of course, on hand, and they still all had the opportunity to use a “save” on one of the singers to keep them in the competition if they got voted out.
Tonight’s show kicked off with the top 8 contestants performing a group number. They sang one of Queen’s very classic hit songs, “We Will Rock You.”
After that, contestant Walker Burrough hit the stage to sing, “Crazy Little Thing Called Love.” Katy told him, “You really used all your appendages! You sounded so good. I love you!” Luke said, “America will fall in love with the performance because he was just himself.” Luke said it was an endearing performance. Lionel told Walker, “I think you had fun. Don’t think at all. Just be present on stage.”
Next, Madison VanDenberg hit the stage to perform, “The Show Must Go On.” Afterwards,Luke told her, “You just changed the whole game. You’re coming into the diva role. That’s your best performance so far.” Lionel told her, “The acting is everything. You did that tonight. Your voice was impeccable.” Katy told her, “You have come so far. Take it even farther. You’re body isn’t quite connected.”
Next up, was Laci Kaye Booth and Laine Hardy. They sang “Jackson” from “Walk The Line.” Afterwards, Lionel told Laci she was sassy, and that they both look very comfortable out there. Katy told them, “You two were connected. I’ve never seen you smile so large.” Luke told them, “Watch out Caleb and Maddie! We don’t even have to pick you guys apart.”
After those two, Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon hopped on stage to sing, “Who Wants to Live Forever.” Afterwards, Katy told Jeremiah,”You really embodied the spirit of Freddie Mercury with that song.” Luke described Jeremiah’s performance as being an “emotional ride.” He also said, “That was a complete journey. I loved every second of it.” Lionel told Jeremiah, “You have the ability to draw people in. Your voice is something to be reckoned with.”
Next, Alejandro Aranda hit the stage to sing, “Under Pressure.” He performed an acoustic version of the song. Afterwards, Luke told Alejandro, “You see the painting in a whole different way. You paint it your way. I think you’ve been better vocally, but it doesn’t matter because you’re doing your own thing.”
Lionel told Alejandro, “You are an artist and and amazing stylist.” Katy said, “Your authenticity is your secret sauce, but can be your worst enemy. I think you’re handling it very well.” Alejandro told them, “I just didn’t want to butcher the song.”
After that, Alyssa Raghu and Wayne Cota hit the stage to sing, “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.” Afterwards, Lionel told them, “You were having fun. We got that.” Katy said, “It was a weird pair, but it worked.” Luke told Alyssa, “That was one of your most comfortable performances.”
Next, Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon & Madison VanDenburg sang, “A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman.” Afterwards, Katy described their performance as “wonderful.” “I think you respected each other’s vocals.” Luke said, “I appreciate that you did not step over each other.” Lionel said, “You all have been the voices. It’s unbelievable. You managed to stay on top of that song together.”
After that, Laine Hardy arrived on stage to sing, “Fat Bottomed Girls.” Afterwards, Luke told Laine, “You owned your rockstar confidence.” Lionel said, “You are the head cheerleader. Your delivery. If you don’t feel it, fake it. You felt it.” Katy said, “You shaked it and baked it.”
Next,Laci Kaye Booth sang, “Love of My Life.” Afterwards, Lionel told Laci, “That is one heck of a little vehicle you have there. You’re a star.” Katy said, “You are sparkling like the diamond we always knew you were. You’ve won. You are so special.” Luke said, “You sold the emotion of the song. Tremendous job.”
Alejandro Aranda & Walker Burroughs hit the stage to sing, Mrs. Robinson from The Graduate. Afterwards, Katy told them, “Your voices are like two peas in a pod.” Luke said, “The song choice was savvy.” He said they were savants.
Next, Wade Cota sang, the classic, “We Are the Champions” song. Afterwards, Luke told Wade, “I think you handled a missed lyric well. I even heard a little vibrato.” Lionel said, “You’ve already won.” Katy said, “Whatever happens, it’s up to you.”
After that, the final performance featured Alyssa Raghu hitting the stage to sing, “Somebody to Love.” Afterwards, Lionel told Alyssa, “I loved the way you wailed away at it. Never lose that determination.” Katy said, “I believe in you all the way.” Luke said, I’m still waiting for some high end power. But overall, you’re amazing.”
Next, host Ryan Seacrest got straight to business, revealing the results. Everyone made it through to next week except for poor Walker Burroughs and Alyssa Raghu. They were the bottom, two vote-getters. None of the judges decided to use a “save.” That meant poor Walker and Alyssa were eliminated for good.
That means the final 6 contestants for 2019 American Idol are: Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon, Laci Kaye Booth, Madison VanDenburg, Laine Hardy, Alejandro Aranda and Wade Cota.”
