American Idol May 19, 2024 Winner Revealed In Finale Episode (Recap)

Hey, “American Idol” fans. Tonight, May 19, 2024, the finale episode for American Idol’s current season 22 did indeed hit the air, and we finally found out who won this thing at the very end. All the celebrity judges: Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan were on hand once again. Rock legend Jon Bon Jovi mentored the contestants in this episode.

Tonight’s finale episode kicked off with Jon Bon Jovi and the top 3 contestants: Abi Carter, Jack Blocker and Will Moseley hitting the stage to sing one of Jon Bon Jovi’s hit songs, “Livin on a Prayer.”

Then, the final 3 contestants performed the first round of their songs for this episode. They sang Jon Bon Jovi songs for their first round, starting with Will Moseley singing, “It’s My Life” by Jon Bon Jovi. Afterwards, Lionel said, “Let it go and enjoy yourself.” Katy said, “You sound like Jon Bon Jovi. You are totally free.” Luke said, “I like that you put your guitar aside. That thing had some teeth in it.”


Jack Blocker sang, “I’ll Be There For You” by Jon Bon Jovi. Afterwards, Katy said, “The complicated relationship we started with! You’re still playing aces. Nobody is blocking Jack Blocker. Not even me!” Luke said, “Way to push yourself. Way to branch out. Have some fun.” Lionel said, “I know we started off a little rocky, but I saw your potential.”

Abi Carter sang, “Bed of Roses” by Jon Bon Jovi. Afterwards, Luke said, “That was tremendous. Incredible.” Next, the final 3 performed songs dedicated to their hometowns. Will Moseley sang, “My Town” by Montgomery Gentry.

Afterwards, Lionel said, “That song said it all for you. How I feel about you. You got me crying on the song.” Luke said, “You started it real smooth and not overdone. You have all the tools to go be anything you want.”

Jack Blocker sang, “All my Ex’s Live in Texas” by George Strait. Afterwards, Katy said, “That performance was your bread and butter.” Luke said, “You are doing star maneuvers. That may be my favorite.” Lionel said, “I think you are on to something called a career.”

Abi Carter sang, “Somewhere from West Side Story.” Afterwards, Lionel said, “That was a show-stopping moment. It doesn’t get any better than that. You killed the show.” Katy said, “That was magic.”

Season 3 winner Fantasia Barrino came on to celebrates 20 years of her career. Next, celebrity music stars sang songs with some of the American Idol contestants. Jason Mraz sang, “I Fell Like Dancing” with Julia Gagnon.

Seal sang his song, “Crazy” with Jayna Elise. After that, host Ryan Seacrest revealed that Will Moseley and Abi Carter made it to the final 2. Unfortunately, that meant that poor Jack Blocker was eliminated at this time.

Then, James Bey sang, “Let It Go” with Kaibrienne and McKenna Faith Breinholt. Judge Luke Bryan sang his new song titled, “Love You, Miss you, Mean it” with Mia Matthews. They also sang “Run” by George Strait.

Judge Lionel Richie sang, “Running with the Night” with the Top 12. Cody Johnson and Triston Harper sang, “Til You Can’t.” Bishop Briggs and Abi Carter sing, “River.” Bishop also sang, “Triumph.”

American Idol 2015 winner Nick Fradiani sang a Neil Diamond medley with the Top 12 guys. They sang, “Coming to America” and “Sweet Caroline.” Hootie and the Blowfish and Will Moseley sang, “Hold My Hand,” “Let Her Cry.” and “Only Wanna Be With You.”

Katy Perry and Jack Blocker sang her song, “What Makes a Woman.” New Kids on the Block and Kayko sang, “Kids,” and “(You’ve Got the) Right Stuff.” Wynonna and Emmy Russell sang, “Coal Miner’s Daughter” and “One One Else on Earth.”

CeCe Winans and Roman Collins sang, “Goodness of God.” The Top 12 ladies paid tribute to Katy Perry by singing, “Teenage Dream,” “Dark Horse” and “California Gurls.” Next, the final 2 contestants sang their original songs for the final round.

Will Moseley sang, “Good Book Bad” Afterwards, Lionel said, “You made it. Congratulations.” Katy said, “You have a storytelling voice. You’re a star.” Luke said, “The ball is in your court.”

Abi Carter sang, “This Isn’t Over.” Afterwards, we got nothing from the judges since the show was short on time. Then, host Ryan Seacrest finally revealed that Abi Carter won this entire season 22. So, she is your new American Idol champ for 2024. Will Moseley is, of curse, the runner up. How do you guys feel about that? Let us know in the comments section.
