Former Bachelor Star Chris Soules Has To Pay A Whopping $2.5 Million For Deadly Accident

Hey, Bachelor Nation fans. We’ve got some very sad news for you guys in this report, especially if you were a fan of former The Bachelor headliner Chris Soules. You guys remember him, right? He appeared on Andi Dorfman’s season of the Bachelorette. Then he went on to headline his own series of The Bachelor following Andi’s season. This was around 2014 and 2015.

Well, things have not been going so great for Chris since then. He apparently got into some major, major trouble back in 2017 when he hit a guy in his hometown of Iowa and then fled the scene. The guy he hit later died!

Chris was charged with leaving the scene of the fatal car accident that eventually killed Kenneth Mosher. In November of 2018, Chris entered a conditional guilty plea to the crime of: Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Serious Injury, which is an aggravated misdemeanor.

This aggravated misdemeanor charge carries a maximum penalty of imprisonment of not more than two 2 years and/or by a fine of not more than $6,250.00 and a minimum penalty of a fine of $625.00 along with a suspended jail sentence or a deferred judgment.

During this accident, Chris had apparently ran Kenneth and his tractor off the road and into a ditch with his truck! Afterwards, Chris did call 911 and rendered aid. However, he left the scene before the police actually showed up. Several hours later, the police showed up at his residence with a search warrant and some handcuffs.

In his written conditional guilty plea, Chris admitted his wrong doing of not providing his vehicle’s registration number to the police. By leaving the scene early, Chris violated the Iowa code that states: “If the accident causes the death of a person, all surviving drivers shall remain at the scene of the accident except to seek necessary aid or to report the accident to law enforcement authorities.”

Fast forward to present day, Chris has now agreed to pony up a whopping $2.5 million dollars, and give it to Kenneth’s family. It’s part of a settlement lawsuit that was brought against Chris for wrongful death. According to a news report on Yahoo.com, Chris’ parents Gary and Linda Soules are going to help out with the hefty $2.5 million dollar payment.

The official statement reads like this, “For the total consideration of $2,500,000.00, Nancy Mosher, Matthew Mosher, Michael Mosher, and the Estate of Kenneth Mosher (‘claimaints’) hereby release and forever discharge Christopher Soules, Gary Soules, Linda Soules from any and all liability whatsoever arising out of an automobile accident that occurred on April 24, 2017.”

Also, it’s reported that Chris’ legal team tried to get the charge of leaving the scene of the crime dropped since he did stop and call 911 after he hit the man. He also stayed until medical personnel showed up. Unfortunately for Chris, the request to have that charge dropped was denied by both the state court and the Iowa Supreme Court.

Chris’ ex, Whitney Bischoff, who he chose from his run on The Bachelor, made a statement about this. She said, “This is a very sad situation. I’m keeping everyone in my thoughts and prayers, especially the victim and his family.” Chris and Whitney reportedly split up after six months of dating.

Alright guys. That’s all we’ve got for this sad The Bachelor report, but definitely stay tuned for hopefully more happier news in the future.
