MasterChef August 28, 2019 Eliminated Micah Yaroch (Recap)

Hey “MasterChef” fans. Tonight, August 28, 2019, another elimination show aired with judges: Gordon Ramsay, Aarón Sanchez and Joe Bastianich, and one unlucky chef was sent packing at the end of it.

Tonight’s episode actually featured a heavily edited immunity challenge and elimination challenge combined into one hour. They, of course, started off with the immunity challenge. Family members of the final 7 contestants were on hand to watch the immunity challenge after they made a surprise visit.

During the immunity challenge, the contestants were given 60 minutes to make a family-inspired dish. At the end of it, 3 contestants were awarded immunity.

During the immunity challenge, Micah told Gordon he was making a lamb chop dish. Gordon gave him some encouraging words. Noah told Joe and Aaron he was making a sea bass dish. Dorian told Gordon she was making a collard greens, corn bread and pork chops dish.

Sarah told Joe and Aaron she was making a cajun style salmon dish. Shari told Gordon she was making a dish that featured five different proteins.

Subha told Gordon he was making a Moroccan style dish. Nick told Joe he was making a butter poached lobster dish.

After their 60 seconds were up ,it was time to taste the dishes. Nick was up first with his butter poached lobster dish. Aaron said, “I’m struggling to find clarity with this dish.” Gordon said, “I want you working with half the ingredients you have.”

Noah presented a crispy skin striped sea bass dish. Aaron said, “The flavors are there.” Joe said, ” You should’ve left the tomatoes off the plate.” Gordon said, “Stop adding things.”

Sarah presented her cajun style salmon dish. Gordon said, “The salmon is cooked beautifully.” Joe said, “Great job, Sarah.”

Subha presented a Morrocan chicken dish. Gordon said, “You need to elevate it.” Shari presented a bass dish. Gordon said, “Congratulations. Well done.”

Dorian presented a herb crusted pork chop dish. Joe said, “It’s you on a plate, but I want you to be more like me.” Gordon said, “I disagree. The pork chops are nailed beautifully. Well done.”

Micah presented his lamb chop dish. Joe said, “It’s raw.” Then he corrected himself and said it’s rare. Gordon said, “You’ve risen. It shows your confidence.”

Next, the family members left after giving hugs. Then it was revealed that Shari, Dorian and Sarah were awarded immunity for this challenge.

That meant Micah,Subha, Noah and Nick had to compete in a elimination challenge. During this elimination challenge, they had to cook the exact same dish as Gordon.

Gordon said this dish was the dish that got him a 3 Michelin star badge. The dish is a potato crusted sea bass with clams dish.

They had to cook alongside Gordon and keep up with him every step of the way. Gordon said he is the clock in this challenge. When he’s done, they’ll need to be done.

During the challenge, Gordon gave them instructions, and they had to keep up. If one of them had a misstep, they were done. Subha was the first one who looked like he may have problems.

Subha continued to show problems deeper into the challenge, especially during the flambe portion of the challenge. Subha was lifting the pan up to his face while it was on fire. Gordon shouted at him, “You have to keep the pan down. It’s on fire!”

Noah literally fell down at one point. Micah cut himself and had to get a medic to cover up the cut.

Micah ran into issues with the fish flip. After Gordon was done, they were given 60 more seconds to complete the dish. At the end, Micah said he was not happy with his dish.

Nick presented his dish first. Gordon said, “You absolutely followed the instructions. That’s a really good effort. It’s cooked beautifully. You’re 90 percent of the way there.” Joe said, “It’s a 90 plus. I actually want to eat it.”

Noah was up next. Gordon said, “Visually, I love the glistening of the veggies. The potatoes are cooked well. The fish is seasoned beautifully.” Aaron said, “You cooked the fish expertly.”

During Subha’s presentation, Gordon said, “Visually, we have beauty and the beast.” Aaron said,”This plate is a mess.” Gordon said, “The puree is way to thick. It doesn’t work with the fish.” Joe said, “There are some bright points. The fish is cooked well.” Aaron said, “The fish is cooked properly, and it’s well seasoned.”

During Micah’s presentation, Gordon said, “The fish was about two minutes away from being fully cooked. The minestrone is good.” Aaron said, “The fish is raw. However, you did the best job with the minestrone.”

After all of that, the judges immediately told Nick and Noah they were safe. That meant Micah and Subha were the bottom two.

Ultimately, they decided to eliminate Micah in the end over Subha. It appears that the undercooked meat will always get you sent home. I’m pretty sure if Micah had fully cooked the fish, he would’ve stayed over Subha.

Gordon did give Micah very encouraging words. Gordon told Micah, “I would like to set up a meeting to guide you in this business.”

Feeling sad for Micah, at 19 having no one be there for support and then to get kicked off. Just not fair to him. Only saving Grace is that meeting to hopefully give Micah some help that he ordinarily wouldn’t get.

is a great chef and deserves love and encouragement

Micah was a fresh and humble contestant and I looked forward to his journey every week. I trust that Gordon Ramsey will follow through with his comments to Micah. This will be a turning point for this young man. He has a fresh talent and I hope he continues to follow his dream.

i felt sorry for micah and i was hoping one of the judges would offer to put him through cooking school or classes He needs someone to be on his side and to help him make something of his life, give him direction. I hope he is able to stay positive and know we are all hoping for the best for him.

I hope Gordon gives him a job or the very least puts him through culinary school. He needs encouragement and a helping hand! If his mom supports him where is she!
I pray he stays confident and strong in his desire to become a chef.

I was very sad to see Micah eliminated. I think he has great potential and Gordon was so wise to offer the meeting. He may have just saved this kid from disaster. No support on the homefront must truly be a heartbreak. My heart goes out to him and hopefully he will be taken under Gordon’s wing and be success!!!!!

Hold on Micah !!! You are More worth it than any of the other contestants. It’s very sad that no one from your family was there for you. You have a beautiful heart and soul blessing are DIFFERENTLY coming your way. Keep that great smile going and watch out for those blessing. I wish I could hug you right now … Glen

  9. Jeannie Smith says:

I’m a huge fan of Micah. His parents don’t deserve such an amazing, humble son. Gordon, please either give him a job or send him to culinary school. You said he was family, be his family. As for Micah’s parents, you don’t deserve such an amazing son, you total pieces of garbage!

  10. Patty says:

Hi micah, lets us know how it goes with your career with ramsey, i hope u stick to it i believe in you, patty.

How disgusting his parents could not support his passion with cooking. Shame on them, and hopefully Micah will get support from people in the industry to flourish.

  12. Marti says:

I am truly disappointed in the show and will no longer watch. To kick a man when he is down, to be mean to someone who is already having a horrible day is so sad to watch. Through the magic of tv they could have not sent anyone home tonight.

  13. Kay says:

I’m very sad to see Micah leave. Really upset Sumba (??? spelling) is still there. How many times has he screwed up??? Too many to count. I really hope he gets eliminated soon. I believe Gordon will help further Micah’s career with schooling and possibly a job, and in that aspect I believe he is the real winner ?

My heart was breaking for Micah before cooking even got started as a new mom I would do anything to be there for my son if it meant I had to walk across the us from MI to CA I would to support him on national tv. So very sad for the young guy. He was a great chef think of his potential when he’s Subas age that’s in 30+ more years lol Micah if your reading these comments know that u can do this don’t ignore the social media bad talk keep cooking. I’m so very sorry your mom or dad wasn’t there. It’s like they say tough times make u stronger I don’t know your life but u may have been thorough more drama then the older folk and that ok you will grow and flourish to come out ahead and more experienced not just in cooking but in life. Regardless or what excuse your mom or dad had to not be there is not important they r still your parents however they are only making you stronger as a man remember than and who was there for u when u make millions and have your own restaurant. Best of luck

  15. Mel says:

Micah was lovely a humble guy . Felt so bad for him . It must have been so hard to be the only one with no family . I hope Gordon stays true to his word .

  16. barbaragiannettino@yahoo.com says:

I think it’s disgraceful that He was eliminated. That Subah didn’t put the stock in and also didn’t throw out those green leafy things which he should have. Micah would’ve been able to cook the fish properly if he hadn’t of cut his finger and needed medical attention. His broth was perfect and if it wasn’t for the fish ,He’d still be there. That Subah isn’t capable of running a restaurant or even working in one. What’s happened to those Judges? This was very unfair and now I don’t care to watch the show any longer!

  17. Anonymous says:

I am going to stop watching. There is no reason that Micah should have gone home before Subah.

  18. Anonymous says:

Micah deserves a second chance. For a young man to be under such stress and perform with no family support and be as gracious as he was, I do hope someone takes this chef and mentors him to success.

  19. Anonymous says:

    His father just sucks,,!!

  20. Anonymous says:

I agree with the above comments. I was rooting for Micah to win. Subha has been given too many passes… why? I hope we see more of Micah as a bridge yto young people. Come on Gordon!

  21. Julie says:

As far as yesterday’s show, Micah was heartbroken that none of his family was there. He had to watch everybody else with their family. Then he cut his finger. However with all that, they told him his paste and veggies were the best . His fish was under cooked by two minutes!! they told Subah that his fish was good but nothing else was! Micah should have never have been the one to be sent home. The judges really blew it this time!!!

  22. Jane Tyzinski says:

I so wanted Micah to win! My heart was broken when he was sent away. He was the best! He is so mature beyond his years. I hope to someday get to come to his restaurant and enjoy his creations and to give him a big hug. I wanted to adopt him. He showed sincere joy for others when they did well. He listened and followed instructions. He was fantastic at leading his team at the race track. I was just so impressed with him in so many ways. I hope that one day his parents will see his greatness, apologize, and give him all the support that he deserves. I pray for his dreams to come true in life! Micah, if you need a place to stay, I would welcome you anytime in my home in Cloverdale, Va. I believe in my heart that God has wonderful plans for you! Struggles make us stronger. You already exhibited great strength and a great attitude. You are in for an awesome turning point in your life. The best is yet to come for you! Love and Best Wishes! Hope to someday meet you! Jane

Loved Micah and hope Gordon follows through with his offer. This young man is amazing. I am disgusted by his parents !

    I’m done with Masterchef

  26. Who Me says:

Sad for Micah but the judges have to do what they have to do. Keep going kid. You got this!

Seriously though, back off of Subha. He’s entertaining to watch. It’s still a TV show!

  27. Jackie says:

Micah’s father is Jon and his mother Laurel from Fort Wayne, In. Very sad indeed that they would not come to support him. Yet they are suppose to be Christians. SMH

I am posting a comment on Wednesdays show where two were eliminated. That would be September 3. I think at this point in the competition, teams are unnecessary. I think they should all send for themselves. I think Subaru and Noah were the two weakest contestants I think the judges need to think this out a little bit because she did not deserve to be cut.

  29. robin Hett says:

I knew that they were gonna call Dorian the winner, not because she deserved it but for whatever reason the judges decided that’s who they wanted. Dorian did NOT deserve to win. I now believe that Master Cheff is completely fixed ( though I have felt that way since season 8) I WONT watch the show anymore and I’m totally disgusted with cheff Ramsay, SHAME ON YOU!!!

  30. Chris Russell says:

I think it was pretty crappy to eliminate Micah. First they get everyone’s family member there, except his, then they eliminate him. I won’t be watching anymore master chefs.
