‘The Resident’ Season 3, October 22, 2019 Episode 5 Delayed. Not Airing Tonight

Hey, “The Resident” fans. Unfortunately, we have some very bad news for you guys tonight. It turns out that the 5th episode of your favorite show has indeed been delayed this week. In fact, the whole, usual primetime line up for FOX has been delayed. We’ll get into the reason why in a second.

But first, we want to tell you that the new episode 5 is now scheduled to air next Tuesday night, October 29, 2019 at approximately 7 pm central standard time on FOX of course. So, be sure to mark down that very important date on your TV show calendars.

Now, the big reason why FOX isn’t airing the new 5th episode of “The Resident” tonight is because they have devoted their entire primetime schedule to covering Game 1 of the Major League Baseball World Series.

FOX’s official description for their LIVE coverage of Game 1 of the Major League Baseball World Series reads like this, “Game 1: Washington Nationals at Houston Astros. Washington Nationals at Houston Astros in Game 1 of baseball’s Fall Classic.

From Minute Maid Park. Dave Martinez’s Nats enter the first World Series in their franchise’s 51-year history, while A.J. Hinch’s Astros eye their second title in three years.”

Yep, FOX does this every year around this time because they apparently have the rights to cover this major sporting event. It’s a ratings giant for them, which means all the scripted TV shows have to take a back seat when this series is going on.

That also brings us to the other set of bad news. If this World Series happens to drag out to a Game 6, The Resident new episode 5 will get pushed back for another week, meaning it won’t air until Tuesday night, November 5, 2019.

Hopefully, that won’t happen, but it is certainly a possibility that you’ll want to keep in mind. We will update this post if that happens.

FOX’s press release for that info reads like this, “EDITOR’S NOTE 2: In the event that a World Series Game 6 IS necessary, THE RESIDENT and EMPIRE will be preempted, and local programming will air in primetime on the West Coast.”

Alright, now on to the good news. FOX did serve up an official press release for episode 5 of The Resident. It does contain a few spoiler teasers. If you don’t like spoiler teasers, it’s highly advised that you exit this article right now.
