Dancing With The Stars October 26, 2020 Eliminated Monica Aldama & Val (Recap)

Hey, “Dancing With The Stars” fans. Tonight, October 26, 2020, another LIVE performance/results show did indeed air for this new season 29 of Dancing With The Stars, and another unlucky couple did get sent packing.

The judges: Derek Hough, Carrie Anne Inaba and Bruno Tonioli were, of course, back to give their critiques and scores. Tonight was Villains night. So, everyone was dressed up like their favorite villain.

Jeannie Mai and Brandon Armstrong kicked off the performances with a Paso Doble routine. Their villain theme was Hannibal Lecter.

Afterwards, Derek said, “You absolutely ate up that paso, but your shoulders were too high. Bruno said, “You made a meal out of that. You have a lot of gusto and intention, but you need to work on extending your lines through your hands.”

Carrie Ann said, “I like the way you dance full out, but I want you to rein in some of that energy to give me more grace.”

Carrie Ann gave Jeannie and Brandon a 8 score, Derek a 9 and Bruno a 8 for a total of 25 points out of a possible 30 points.

Johnny Weir and Britt Stewart were up next with a Viennese Waltz number. Their villain theme was Dracula.

Afterwards, Bruno said, “It was very, very good. The price of darkness reawakens and rules the dance floor. You had wonderful sweeping motions ,and you nailed the gothic romance feel.”

Carrie Ann said, “You floated through that interpretation with the music more than I’ve seen.” Derek said, “I loved that version of the song. You redeemed yourself after last week’s performance.”

Carrie Ann gave Johnny and Britt a 9 score, Derek a 9 and Bruno a 9 for a total of 27 points.

Next up, was Chrishell Stause and Gleb Savchenko. They did a Paso Doble number. Maleficent was their villain theme.

Afterwards, Carrie Ann said, “You were in your element with great storytelling and simple moves that were executed beautifully.”

Derek said, “The routine called for the simpler movements. There were a few off-balance moments, but overall, everybody’s crushing it tonight.” Bruno said, “You had spot-on focus and intention, but you lost your fluidity at times. Overall, it was a very strong performance.”

Carrie Ann gave Chrishell and Gleb a 9 score, Derek a 9 and Bruno a 8 for a total of 26 points.

Monica Aldama and Val Chmerkovskiy performed a Jazz routine. Nurse Ratched was their villain theme.

Afterwards, Derek said, “I liked the the musicality and the seductive energy, but you lost the character in your side-by-side moments.”

Bruno said, “I didn’t get a fever. I got more of a mild chill. I loved your leg extensions, but you need to dance more through your body and not just your arms and legs.”

Carrie Ann said, “Your shapes were great, but you were missing the intention of the characters. It wasn’t your best dance.”

Carrie Ann gave Monica and Val a 7 score, Derek a 8 and Bruno a 7 for a total of 22 points.

AJ McLean and Cheryl Burke served up a Tango dance. Norman Bates was their villain theme. Afterwards, Carrie Ann said, “You brought light and shade, but you need to work a little on your posture.”

Derek said, “I loved the intro as Norman Bates’s mother, and you paid close attention to your footwork. It was well done, but you need to work on the balance of sharpness and softness.” Bruno said, “I like how you translated the mood of the character into the footwork, but you need to work on your frame.”

Carrie Ann gave AJ and Cheryl a 9 score, Derek a 8 and Bruno a 9 for a total of 26 points.

Nelly and Daniella Karagach danced an Argentine Tango routine. Freddy Kreuger was their villain theme.

Afterwards, Carrie Ann said, “It was by far your best dance.” Derek said, “That was definitely not a nightmare, but I wanted to see more Argentine tango footwork. You were a good partner to Daniella.” Bruno said, “You killed that Argentine tango. You held yourself well.”

Carrie Ann gave Nelly and Daniella a 9 score, Derek a 9 and Bruno a 9 for a total of 27 points.

Justina Machado and Sasha Farber hit the dance floor ,next, to deliver a Tango routine. Carrie was their villain theme.

Afterwards, Derek said, “You literally set this place on fire. Your frame is exquisite. You travel well across the floor. However, you need to keep your feet together a little more during those last turns.”

Bruno said, “It was a little too hoppy and steppy. But otherwise, it was so powerful.” Carrie Ann said, “You’re one of the best dancers here. You have a real chance to win the whole thing.”

Carrie Ann gave Justina a 9 score, Derek a 9 and Bruno a 8 for a total of 26 points.

Nev Schulman and Jenna Johnson arrived to do a Paso Doble dance. Black Swan was their villain theme.

Afterwards, Bruno said, “It was perfect. True to Black Swan, and you lived up to the expectations.” Carrie Ann said, “You exceeded expectations with great lines and negative space and character.” Derek said, “It was beautiful, and I think I’m pondering 10s.”

Carrie Ann gave Nev and Jenna a perfect 10 score, Derek a 10 and Bruno a 10 for a perfect score of 30 points!

Skai Jackson and Alan Bersten had to follow that perfect routine with a Argentine Tango number. Bride of Chucky was their villain theme.

Afterwards, Carrie Ann said, “I am so proud of you. You have had the roughest road this season, but you were better than ever with just one little wobble. Otherwise, you were mesmerizing.”

Derek said, “You were on a mission. You had focus and amazing lifts.” Bruno said, “The way you extended your shapes and placements were your best ever.”

Carrie Ann gave Skai and Alan a 9 score, Derek a 9 and Bruno a 9 for a total of 27 points.

To wrap up tonight’s performances, Kaitlyn Bristowe and Artem Chigvintsev hit the dance floor to rock out a Paso Doble routine. Cruella de Vil was their villain theme.

Afterwards, Derek said, “I appreciated how well you handled all the choreography.” Bruno said, “The routine was a little rushed ,and the timing wasn’t as crisp.” Carrie Ann said, “I didn’t think you were resisting enough, and you gave up from time to time.”

Carrie Ann gave Kaitlyn & Artem a 7 score, Derek a 9 and Bruno a 8 for a total of 24 points.

Next, they revealed that everyone was safe except for Jeanne Mai & Brandon Armstrong and Monica Aldama & Val Chmerkovskiy. They were the bottom 2 vote-getters this week.

The judges were allowed to save one of them. Bruno decided to save Jeanne & Brandon. Derek decided to save Monica & Val. So, Carrie Ann was left to make the deciding vote, and she voted to save Jeanne & Brandon.

That meant poor Monica Aldama & Val Chmerkovskiy were eliminated by a vote of 2-1 tonight. How do you guys feel about tonight’s results? Are you happy it? Are you sad? Or do you just not care one way or the other? Let us know in the comments section.
