Hey, “Dancing With The Stars” fans. Tonight, October 17, 2022 another new performances/results episode of Dancing With The Stars season 31 hit the air. Judges: Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli were, of course, back in action to serve up more opinions and scores.

Trevor Donovan and Emma Slater kicked off tonight’s performances with a Jazz number. Afterwards, Len said, “I like that the dance wasn’t forced so it had more control. It was your best dance.” Derek said, “I felt your presence more. The performance drew me in with beautiful flowing arms.”

Bruno Tonioli said, “You remind me of Brad Pitt in “Thelma and Louise.” You went for it without fear. Carrie Ann said, “I cried during the dance because I could feel how hard you were trying, and it came through. However, you do need to watch your hips.”

Carrie Ann gave Trevor & Emma an 8 score, Len an 8, Derek an 8, Bruno an 8 for a total of 32 points out of a possible 40 points.

Shangela and Gleb Savchenko danced a Foxtrot routine. Afterwards, Derek said, “I loved seeing this side of you, but you need to watch your shoulders in your frame.” Bruno said, “You tensed your shoulders, but it was otherwise beautiful.” Carrie Ann said, “I loved the softness we got to see, and I was impressed by how you recovered from your error.” Len said, “Your frame was good, and it was lovely.”

Carrie Ann gave Shangela & Gleb an 8 score, Len an 8, Derek an 8 and Bruno an 8 for a 32 score.

Jessie James Decker and Alan Bersten rocked a Tango routine. Afterwards, Bruno said, “I thought the second half of the routine was spot-on. Once you got going, you had attack.” Carrie Ann said, “Your posture has greatly improved, and you’re such a strong dancer. There were tough times, but keep on trucking.” Len said,”It was sharp and had attack with purpose and determination.” Derek said, “The beginning was a little shaky, but you sold me on the second half.”

Carrie Ann gave Jessie & Alan a 7 score, Len a 7, Derek an 8 and Bruno a 7 for a 29 score.

Gabby Windey and Val Chmerkovskiy served up a Foxtrot dance. Afterwards, Carrie Ann said, “You’re stunning and dazzling, but you’re still holding back a little bit.” Len said, “You presented lovely, lyrical movement. You had effortless ease.” Derek said, “This was a graceful routine. I loved the turns and leg extensions.” Bruno said, “You were flying high and spun like no other. You looked magnificent.”

Carrie Ann gave Gabby & Val a 9 score, Len a 9, Derek a 9 and Bruno a 9 for a 36 score.

Joseph Baena and Daniella Karagach performed a Rumba dance. Afterwards, Len said, “I didn’t expect you to have your best dance of the season in this style, but it was.” Derek said, “This was a fundamental, basic, beautiful rumba with lovely, in-between moments.” Bruno said, “You did refined, heroic shapes.” Carrie Ann said, “This was one of the best rumbas by a male dancer I’ve ever seen on the show.”

Carrie Ann gave Joseph & Daniella a 9 score, Len an 8, Derek a 9 and Bruno an 8 for a 34 score.

Daniel Durant and Britt Stewart danced a Contemporary number. Afterwards, Derek said, “This dance transcended the competition, and you didn’t miss a beat.” Bruno said, “You’re true, real, honest, unique and special.” Carrie Ann said, “You welcome us into your world. Your foot action was especially impressive and even more beautiful combining American Sign Language with dance.” Len said, “I liked the gentleness. It was quiet and understated. However, the lifts could have been a little cleaner.”

Carrie Ann gave Daniel & Britt an 8 score, Len an 8, Derek a 9 and Bruno a 9 for a 34 score.

Jordin Sparks and Brandon Armstrong churned out a Salsa routine. Afterwards, Bruno said, “I want that salsa for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You managed to make it look easy and spontaneous.” Carrie Ann said, “I applaud you for taking ownership of every movement, but your hand that’s not in hold tends to flail a little.”

Len said, “It had attack and action. Great hips all the way through, and it was danced with confidence.” Derek said, “I don’t think there was enough salsa, and it looked a little under-rehearsed.”

Carrie Ann gave Jordin & Brandon an 8 score, Len an 8, Derek an 8 and Bruno a 9 for a 33 score.

Charli D’Amelio and Mark Ballas performed a Contemporary dance. Afterwards, Carrie Ann said, “You conveyed the experience of anxiety. It was perfection.” Len said, “This dance was full of interesting choreography. You cope brilliantly no matter what Mark throws at you.”

Derek said, “This was a stunning representation of an emotion, and you performed it raw and with maturity.” Bruno said, “This was a moment that defines the show, heart-wrenchingly powerful, professional level dance technique.”

Carrie Ann gave Charli & Mark a perfect 10 score, Len a 9, Derek a 10 and Bruno a 10 for an almost perfect 39 score!

Vinny Guadagnino and Koko Iwasaki delivered a Jazz performance. Afterwards, Len said, “This performance was simple but effective.” Derek said, “I love watching you.” Bruno said, “This performance was simple, effective, and suited for you.” Carrie Ann said, “You’re why people love Dancing With The Stars.”

Carrie Ann gave Vinny & Koko an 8 score, Len an 8, Derek an 8 and Bruno an 8 for a 32 score.

Heidi D’Amelio and Artem Chigvintsev danced a Rumba routine. Afterwards, Derek said, “You have improved greatly. It was clean and beautiful, but I need a little more emotion from you.” Bruno said, “My eyes were popping. It was sensual and seductive, but with unattainable sophistication. Your leg placement was spot on.”

Carrie Ann said, “I have never seen someone improve so consistently from week to week.” Len said, “There was no messing about. I liked the feeling over it. I felt the growing romance of the routine. Your leg and foot placements were beautiful.”

Carrie Ann gave Heidi and Artem a 9 score, Len a 9, Derek a 9 and Bruno a 9 for a 36 score.

Wayne Brady and Witney Carson performed a Foxtrot dance. Afterwards, Bruno said, “You captured the essence of love at first sight.” Carrie Ann said, “This was a beautiful tribute to your daughter. You have come so far in your frame even despite the challenge of the height difference.”

Len said, “This dance had elegance and sophistication. It had a smoothness, but you need to watch your hand on Witney’s back. It was a little spread open.” Derek said, “This performance was entertaining and graceful ,and you had beautiful arms.”

Carrie Ann gave Wayne & Witney a 9 score, Len a 9, Derek a 9 and Bruno a 10 for a 37 score.

To cap off tonight’s performances, Selma Blair and Sasha Farber danced a Waltz routine. Afterwards, Selma made a shocking and sad announcement that she will not be able to continue on in the competition because her doctor said it could damage her body beyond repair. Selma has MS (Multiple Sclerosis).

The judge did go ahead and critique this last dance from Selma & Sasha. Len said, “Selma, you climbed mountains in your performances on the show.” Derek said, “You’re a beacon of light, and your reputation on the show has been impeccable from every department on the show.” Bruno said, “I feel privileged to have known you. You have inspired millions of people.” Carrie Ann said, “I have been watching an elegantly dancing miracle. You have been nothing but an inspiration and a light.”

Carrie Ann gave Selma & Sasha a perfect 10 score, Len a 10, Derek a 10 and Bruno a 10 for a perfect 40 score! Of course, these scores will not play into the actual competition since Selma is leaving.

Also, since Selma had to leave, co-host Tyra Banks announced that everyone is safe tonight. No one is getting eliminated. However, this week will feature another episode of performances tomorrow night, October 18, 2022, and we suspect that a couple will get eliminated at the end of that one. We’ll have to wait and see.
