So You Think You Can Dance June 29, 2022 Eliminated Jordan & Thiago (Recap)
Hey, “So You Think You Can Dance” fans. Tonight, June 29, 2022, another LIVE performances/results episode of So You Think You Can Dance’s current season 17 did indeed air with judges: Leah Remini, Stephen “tWitch” Boss and JoJo Siwa. Another two, unlucky contestants did get eliminated at the end.
Tonight’s episode kicked off with Carter & Anna serving up a Salsa routine. Afterwards, Leah said, “That’s the way to start off a show. Carter, you did an amazing job of bringing the energy.”
JoJo said, “Carter, I appreciate how you engaged with Anna, the judges and the audience.” tWitch said, “Anna, you should be proud of how you attack each character every week. Carter, you need to bring a little more attitude to the performances.”
Waverly & Essence danced a Bollywood number. Afterwards, tWitch said, “There was no shortage of energy or character in that routine.” Leah said, “Essence, you owned the stage. Waverly, you were the leading man.” JoJo said, “Waverly, I loved your knee spins. Essence, you looked like a goddess.”
Beau & Jordan served up a Viennese Waltz performance. It was choreographed by Dancing With The Stars pros Sasha Farber and Emma Slater. Afterwards, JoJo said, “Jordan, while you probably don’t feel 150 percent, you made it look like 110 percent. Beau, I get chills everytime I watch you dance.”
tWitch said, “It was a beautiful moment. Jordan, you finally found a way to stand out.” Leah said, “Jordan, you brought it when it mattered. Beau, I hope you will embrace being a leading man a little bit more.”
Keaton & Ralyn rocked an African Jazz number. Afterwards, Leah said, “Wow,it was like watching art.” JoJo said, “The power behind that number was insane.” tWitch said, “Ralyn, you were mighty. Keaton, you have progressed week after week.”
To cap off tonight’s performances, Thiago & Alexis served up a Broadway dance number. Afterwards, tWitch said,”You were technically beautiful, and I loved watching it, but there’s something I didn’t connect with.” Leah said, “Thiago, you need to believe in yourself more.” JoJo said, “I saw a duo of two dancers who were clean, precise and did exactly what they were supposed to do.”
After all of that, the audience voted for their favorite dancers, and it was revealed that poor Thiago, Jordan, Carter and Alexis got the least amount of votes tonight. The judges got to save two of them, and they decided to save Carter and Alexis. That means poor Jordan and Thiago got eliminated. How do you guys feel about that? Let us know in the comments section.
The next, new episode of So You Think You Can Dance is scheduled to air on Wednesday night,July 13,2022 at approximately 8 pm central standard time on FOX.

I love dance. I watched Dancing with the Stars until I figured it was only a popularity contest. Then I found So You Think You Can Dance. When Nigel and Mary were judges, they commented on technique as well as connection to partners and audience. This year, there is very little technique critique, and the judges seem to be mostly about emotionality. With the audience voting, it seems to be another popularity contest. Beau, who is not a very good dancer technically, has captured the judges’ and audiences’ hearts. Jordan is a very much better dancer technically than Beau, but because she didn’t get the audience vote, she was one of the four the judges had to consider to kick off. I’m very disappointed in show this season.
Dancing is like visual art in that the viewers response is indicative of the artistic value of the experience. Musical performance is the same…and dramatic performance, as well. Technical perfection cannot be the most important factor. Beau sells his art in the same way Jackson Pollock or Vincent Van Gogh “sold” theirs. The audience’s response is not based on beauty or perfection, but on an aesthetic “thrill” (for want of a better word.)
The dancers shouldn’t be judged by the audience. These dancers have years of experience and I’d be willing to bet, 90% of the audience members don’t have a fraction of the skill or experience. Personally I feel the audience isn’t equipped to judge the skill, technicality, connection, or creativity of the dancers, f#%k the audience’s opinion. The judges should be the only people judging. Eliminating Thiago was a mistake. He was too technically sound and possibly one of the best all around dancers on the show.
