MasterChef July 13, 2022 Eliminated Samantha Daily (Recap)
Hey, “MasterChef” fans. Earlier tonight, July 13, 2022, another new episode of MasterChef’s current season 12 did indeed hit the air with judges: Gordon Ramsay, Aarón Sanchez and Joe Bastianich, and another unlucky contestant was sent out the door at the end.
Tonight’s episode kicked off with the contestants being told that they had to create an incredible vegan dish for the judges. Gordon demonstrated how to do it by making a beet wellington dish.
After that, the contestants were given 60 minutes to create their fantastic vegan dish. During the competition, Dara revealed that she was making a jackfruit dish. Fred told Aaron and Joe he was making a tofu dish. Joe said, “I hope you can pull this off.”
Dara told Gordon about her jackfruit taco dish. Gordon said, “Smart move on the jackfruit. Good luck.” Michael said he was making a coconut peline panna cotta dish. Shayne told Joe and Aaron that he was making a risotto dish.
Derrick told Gordon he was making a beet tartare dish. Gordon gave him some advice and said, “Good luck.” Bowen told Joe and Aaron he was making a scallops dish. Gordon told him, “Good luck.”
Samantha told Gordon she was making a potato pancake dish. Gordon said, “You’ve got to get those potatoes cooked fast.” Gordon told the other judges he was worried Samantha might not get those potatoes cooked in time.
Samantha started getting nervous about how long it was taking her to cook the potatoes at the 25 minute mark, but she eventually got it together.
Shelly told Aaron and Joe she was making tofu curry dish, and they gave her some advice. Shanika told Gordon she was making a salad dish. Gordon said, “I love that idea. Sounds good.”
Amanda told Joe and Aaron she was making a Falafel dish. Joe said, “It is high risk. Good luck.” Shelly seemed really behind at the 2 minute mark. Gordon kept telling her to get her dish plated. When time ran out, Shelly said she definitely wasn’t happy with her dish.
Next, the judges walked around to everyone’s dishes and tasted them. Then they decided that the top three dishes belonged to Derrick, Amanda and Bowen.
Derrick presented a Beet Tartare with Smashed Avocado, Cashew Garlic Aioli and Sesame Crostini dish. Gordon said, “It’s flashy and everything we want on a plate. It’s delicious.” Aaron said, “You combined everything great.” Joe said, “This dish is better than versions of it in my restaurants. It’s a winner.”
Amanda presented a Falafel on Homemade Pita with Pickled Radish, Tomato Salad and Creamy Tahini Sauce dish. Gordon said, “It’s everything a falafel should be. It’s delicious and exceptional.” Aaron said, “It’s everything you would expect. I love it.” Joe said, “It’s a perfect falafel.”
Bowen served up a Tofu Scallops with Chinese Cabbage Roll, Mango & Coconut Risotto and Curry Sauce dish. Joe said, “It looks appealing and complex.” Gordon said, “The tofu is exceptional. The flavor is on point. Good job.” Aaron said, “I’m really impressed by it.” Joe said, “This is a real top class dish.”
After all of that, the judges decided Amanda’s dish was the top dish. So, she won immunity from the next elimination challenge. Derrick and Bowen were automatically safe for this challenge.
Next, the judges revealed the worst dishes of this challenge. They belonged to: Shelly, Fred and Samantha. Shelly presented a Tofu Curry with Vegan Sour Cream and Scratch Made Roti dish. Gordon said, “It looks bear. It doesn’t have enough vegetables. It’s a nightmare.” Aaron said, “It needs more veggies.” Joe said, “It seems like an unfinished dish.”
Samantha served up a Stuffed Potato Cake with Mushroom Filling and Vegan Sour Cream dish. Aaron said, “It taste like a frozen pocket of something. It’s boring.” Joe said, “It’s a mediocre breakfast and brunch plate.” Gordon said, “I’m not tasting greatness tonight, sorry.”
Fred delivered a Tofu Gnudi with Mapo Sauce, Roasted Vegetables and Tofu Crema dish. Gordon said, “You plated it like you had a blindfold on. It has too much salt and no texture.” Aaron said, “I’m completely let down by this, and it was way over the top salty.” Joe said, “The errors are significant because it’s difficult to eat this.”
After all of that, the judges decided that Samantha had the worst dish. So, she was eliminated. Fred and Shelly escaped elimination. Gordon told Samantha, “That dish was no where near standard. I haven’t given up on you. Continue your journey.”
Samantha said, “It’s been an amazing experience. My culinary journey is not over.” How do you guys feel about tonight’s results? Let us know in the comments section.
