The Amazing Race March 5 Eliminated Mark & Larry And Jackye & Lauren (Recap)
Earlier tonight, March 5, CBS aired the very first, premiere episode 1 of The Amazing Race’s new season 37, and we saw two unlucky teams get eliminated at the end of it.
Tonight’s new episode kicked off with the usual introductions of the new teams for this season. They all greeted host Phil Keoghan at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.
The teams were told that they were going to get hit with a new “Fork In The Road” twist in this leg. It splits half the teams up into two different routes. The last team to show up at the pit stop for each of the routes gets eliminated.
After the rules were explained, the teams raced for their backpacks to get their first clue, which directed them to travel to Hong Kong, China to start up the first leg of the race.
When they got to Hong Kong, they had to go to Tian Tan Buddha to find their next clue. When they got it, they were told to go to Cheung Chau Island. When they got there, they were hit with a Roadblock challenge. It required one of the team members to climb up a bamboo tower to get the clue.
Once they got it, they had to go to Lok Kwan Street Park. When they got there, they were hit with the Fork in the Road twist. They got to choose to do either the Sing route or the Dance route. They split half the teams into each route. So 7 teams did the sing route, and 7 teams did the dance route.
The Dance route required the teams to learn a choreographed dance routine in a lion costume to get their next clue. The Sing route required the teams to correctly sing lines from a Cantonese opera to get their next clue.
After the teams successfully completed their routes, they were directed to hit up the West Kowloon Cultural District, which was the pit stop for this leg of the race.
Carson & Jack arrived in first place for the dance route and won $3,000 dollars each. Brett & Mark arrived in second place. Ernest & Bridget took 3rd place. Bernie & Carrigain claimed 4th place. Nick & Mike took the 5th spot. Courtney & Jasmin finished in the very important 6th spot. That means Mark & Larry showed up last for the dance route, and they were eliminated.
Alyssa & Josiah arrived at the Pit Stop in first place for the sing route and won $3,000 each. Jonathan & Ana took second place. Scott & Lori came in 3rd place. Pops & Jeff finished in 4th place. Han & Holden took the 5th spot. Melinda & Erika claimed the very important 6th place to just narrowly avoid elimination. That means Jackye & Lauren showed up last for the sing route, and they were eliminated.
