The Amazing Race January 19, 2022 Eliminated Michael & Moe For A Second Time (Recap)

Hey, “Amazing Race” fans. Tonight, January 19, 2022, another new episode for The Amazing Race’s current season 33 did indeed air, and another team got served their walking papers at the end.

Tonight’s episode kicked off with us getting a look at all the teams that returned after the 19 month delay due to the pandemic. Apparently, the teams of: Caro & Ray, Spencer & Anthony, Connie & Sam and Isaiah & Taylor did not return. However, they did bring back two teams that were previously eliminated. Those teams were: Arun & Natalia and Michael & Moe.

All the returning teams flew to Switzerland to start off this race. From there, they had to go to the museum and get on a bus to get their first clue. That clue directed the teams to go to Schwägalp and take a cable car up a mountain to find their next clue.

Once they found that clue, they were given a Road Block challenge. During it, one of the team members had to make their way across a mountain ledge with ropes to get their next clue. They were assisted by a professional as they made their way to the clue box.

The clue box was actually located in a spot that was 8,000 feet above sea level, and they could see six countries at once from that level. The countries they could see were: Austria, Liechtenstein, Italy, France, Germany, and Switzerland. It was a beautiful view to say the least.

After the teams successfully completed the Road Block challenge, they were directed to drive to Gasthaus Sonne to get their next clue. Akbar & Sheridan ran into trouble finding Gasthaus Sonne, and they wasted a lot of time.

Once the teams found Gasthaus Sonne, they were hit with their detours for this leg of the race. The teams got to choose to do either the “Punch It” or “Toss It” detours.

In the Punch it detour, the teams had to attach ornaments on a belt buckle in the right order to get their next clue. Apparently, the different ornaments told a specific story. So, they needed to guess what that story was and attach the ornaments accordingly. It looked super difficult. Michael & Moe had tons of trouble with this one, and they wasted huge amounts of time before they were finally able to get the order correct. In fact, it caused them to drop into last place after getting their first!

In the “Toss It” detour, the teams had to learn some sequences of tosses and twirls with a flag. Then, they had to correctly perform the sequences to get their next clue.

After completing the detours, the teams were directed to go to Altstätten, which was the pit stop for this leg of the race.

Ryan & Dusty arrived in first place, and won $2,500 dollars each for their troubles. Kim & Penn took 2nd place. Raquel & Cayla claimed 3rd place. Lulu & Lala took the 4th spot. Akbar & Sheridan came in 5th. Arun & Natalia took the 6th position. That means Michael & Moe came in last place.

Host, Phil Keoghan did confirm to Michael & Moe that they were eliminated for coming in last place. Unfortunately, for Michael & Moe, that “Punch It” detour they picked totally did them in. They wasted way too much time, trying to figure it out. They were gracious to get a second opportunity at The Amazing Race since they had already been previously eliminated before the pandemic delay.

The next, new episode for The Amazing Race season 33 is scheduled to hit the air next Wednesday night, January 26, 2022 at approximately 8 pm central standard time on CBS.
