Grey’s Anatomy New Season 23 Is Happening. ABC Renewed It
Tonight, May 7, 2026, ABC aired the 18th episode for Grey’s Anatomy’s current season 22, and it was indeed the finale episode, but we’re happy to report that it was not the last episode forever.
According to a recent report from Deadline.com , ABC did officially renew Grey’s Anatomy for a brand new season 23. So, you guys can expect more new episodes to show up at some point in the future.
ABC actually renewed Grey’s Anatomy pretty early back at the end of March 2026. So, they must have been quite happy with its performance.
Deadline is also reporting that Kevin McKidd’s Owen Hunt and Kim Raver’s Teddy Altman characters will not be returning as series regulars for the new season 23. It’s believed that Chandra Wilson aka Bailey, James Pickens Jr. aka Richard, Camilla Luddington aka Jo, Caterina Scorsone aka Amelia and Chris Carmack aka Link will return for the new season 23.
Currently, there are no details available for the official season 23 premiere date or episode count. We’ll have to provide that information at a later date when it becomes available from ABC. It’s reported that Grey’s Anatomy was the number 1 streamed series for the Disney+ and Hulu platforms, and the number 2 most streamed show in the U.S. across Hulu and Netflix.
According to the LIVE Nielsen ratings, Grey’s Anatomy season 22 managed to average 2.256 million LIVE viewers per episode, and a 0.19 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics. The most recent episode 17, which aired last Thursday night, April 30, 2026, drew in 2.206 million LIVE viewers along with a 0.17 ratings score.
The most-viewed episode was episode 15 with 2.648 million LIVE viewers. The least-viewed episode was episode 6 with 1.835 million LIVE viewers.
The highest-rated episode was episode 1 with a 0.27 ratings score. The lowest-rated episode was episode 6 with a 0.13 ratings score.
