Law & Order Season 21, May 19, 2022 Episode 10 Is The Finale. Season 22 Is Happening
Hey, “Law & Order” fans. We hope tonight’s episode 10 was highly enjoyable for you, and that you savored every single second of it, especially since it was the very last episode of its current season 21. That’s right, guys. Tonight’s episode 10 marked the end of this very short, 10-episode season of Law & Order. So, you guys won’t be seeing a new episode of it for a pretty good while.
The good news is that we can tell you that you will get to see more new episodes of Law & Order at some point in the future because NBC did indeed renew it for a brand new season 22! According to the folks over at TV Line , this renewal announcement took place in early May 2022. So, it got a little bit of an early renewal.
Lisa Katz who is the president of NBC’s scripted programming had some very good things to say during the renewal announcement stating,”The iconic Law & Order brand has long been synonymous with NBC, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring back all three of these dramas for the 2022-23 season. It’s a testament to the brilliance of Dick Wolf’s storytelling that audiences remain compelled by these unforgettable characters week after week, year after year.”
The showrunner for Law & Order Rick Eid talked with TV Line about his future plans for the new season 22. Apparently, he wants to dig deeper into the character stuff. He stated, “I’m excited about next season. I think next year, we’ll get an opportunity to dig even deeper into the character stuff, which really excites me.”
Law & Order season 21 averaged 4.357 million LIVE viewers per episode, and a 0.50 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics. The most recent episode 9, which aired last Thursday night, May 12, 2022, drew in 3.828 million LIVE viewers, and a 0.43 ratings score.
The most-viewed episode was the premiere episode 1 with 5.798 million LIVE viewers. The least-viewed episode was episode 9 with the 3.828 million LIVE viewers.
The highest-rated episode was the premiere episode 1 with a 0.74 ratings score. The lowest-rated episode was episode 8 with a 0.38 ratings score. If you include the Live+7 DVR playback numbers, season 21 actually averaged 6.1 million viewers per episode, and a 0.60 ratings score. So, yes indeed. Law & Order season 21’s numbers were quite strong. Most importantly, NBC thought they were strong.
