MasterChef August 3, 2022 Eliminated Shelly Flash (Recap)
Hey, “MasterChef” fans. Tonight, August 3, 2022, another new episode of MasterChef’s current season 12 with judges: Gordon Ramsay, Aarón Sanchez, and Joe Bastianich did indeed hit the air, and another unlucky contestant did get sent home at the end.
Tonight’s episode kicked off with footage of the remaining contestants going to see a rodeo show. Then, the judges showed up to tell them that they were splitting up into two teams again to cook a giant meal for a bunch of cowboys and cowgirls. Each team had to cook 101 steak dishes.
Even though Dara had immunity this week, Gordon still wanted to see her perform. So, she still participated. The judges selected Shelly to be team captain for the blue team, and Bri to be team captain for the red team.
Shelly picked: Brandi, Christian, Amanda, Willie, Emily and Shanika to be on her blue team. Meanwhile, Bri picked Fred, Dara, Michael, Gabe, Derrick and Bowen to be on her red team.
During the challenge, Bri told Gordon her team was making a Grilled Ribeye with Honey Bourbon BBQ Sauce, Slaw, Maple Yams and Chipotle Grilled Corn dish. Gordon told her to be careful with the sweetness of the yams. He also gave her advice on how to run her team.
Shelly told Aaron they’re making a New York Strip Steak with Compound Butter, BBQ Beans, Baked Brussels Sprouts and Slaw dish.
At the 30 minute mark, Bri presented a sample of their rib eye dish to the judges. Gordon said, “The steak is beautiful. You need to work on the slaw.”
Christian was giving Shelly a bit of attitude, and she didn’t like it. She told the private cams, “Christian is not helping.”
Shelly presented her New York strip sample dish to the judges. Gordon said, “There should be a crust and sear to this New York strip. Elevate the slaw.” Joe said, “The compound butter needs to be punchier and more flavorful.”
At one point, Joe said, “The blue team looks chaotic.” Gordon said, “Bri’s red team looks more organized. Bri has really turned things around.” Willie pointed out that Shelly told Brandi to make the beans sweeter, and he didn’t think that was a good idea. “They’re already sweet enough,” he said. Gordon told Bowen to season the corn on the grill. Gordon did come and say Brandi’s beans are too sweet, confirming Willie’s opinion. Shelly said she would take the blame for the beans.
At one point, Bowen served up some cold corn and got called out on it by Gordon. Gordon chunked Bowen’s corn out onto the ground and told him to cook the corn. They had Bowden switch up grills to make sure it was hot enough for him to get that corn cooked.
Dara caught heat from Aaron for not having the yams ready. Shelly got yelled at by Gordon for not having enough slaw ready. Derrick told the private cams, “Shelly made the biggest mistake not picking me. Her decision to not pick me was personal, and that upset me. I’m really focused when I’m upset.”
The Blue team got a raw steak complaint. So, Christian got chewed out for that. Gordon told Christian, “I need the steak to be medium rare until the very end.” Christian told the private cams, “The mistake on the steak is on me. I need to focus on these steaks.”
Derrick again told the private cams, “Shelly not picking me to be on her team was personal. She made me look like an idiot, and I just served it back to her.” At the end of the challenge, the cowboys and cowgirls voted for their favorite team.
Bri’s Red team got the most votes. So, they won the challenge, and everyone on that team was safe from elimination. Derrick told the private cams, “I am a force, and if I’m on your team, it’s good.” Gordon told the Blue team that the Red team was very structured.
After much deliberation, the judges ultimately decided to eliminate Shelly. Gordon told Shelly, “Your captaincy wasn’t present.” Joe said, “You didn’t lead the team when you needed to.” Aaron echoed some similar comments. Shelly said, “I appreciate the opportunity. It was great working with ya’ll.” How do you guys feel about Shelly Flash getting evicted in this episode? Let us know in the comments section.
