Survivor May 17, 2023 Voted Off Jaime Lynn Ruiz (Recap)
Hey, “Survivor” fans. Tonight, May 17, 2023, another new episode of Survivor’s current season 44 did indeed hit the air, and we saw another unlucky contestant get voted off and sent to the jury at the end of it. Tonight’s episode kicked off with Caroyln talking to the private cams about how she played her immunity idol on Carson at the last tribal council meeting, which sent Danny Massa packing for the jury.
Carolyn told the private cams, “I don’t regret playing my idol. Me, Carson and Yam Yam are still together.” Carolyn went on to tell everyone how she found her idol earlier on in the game along with some intricate details about how she’s been playing the game. Yam Yam was impressed. In fact, he was so impressed that he told the private cams, “Carolyn needs to stop letting everyone know how good she is. It’s creating a bigger target for her. I’m pretty afraid of her right now.”
Carson noticed that Heidi went looking for a hidden immunity idol. So, he got Carolyn and told her they need to go looking for it. Eventually, everyone went searching for the idol. Lauren told the private cams that Carolyn is scaring her a little bit because she disguises how smart she is so well. Carson told the private cams, “I wanna stay with Carolyn and Yam Yam, but I need to pretend that I’m on Lauren and Jaime’s side. They shouldn’t feel comfortable because one of them is going next.”
After all of that, host Jeff Probst showed up with a new Reward challenge for them. During it, they were split into two teams of three. On each team, two blindfolded team members pushed one team member in a huge sphere through an obstacle course.
The team member in the sphere directed the blindfolded team members where to go until they finally reached a table maze. Then, the team member in the sphere had to direct the blindfolded team members what they needed to do to get a ball through the table maze and into a hole for the win. The team consisting of: Yam Yam, Lauren and Carson won. Carolyn, Jaime and Heidi were the losers.
The prize for this Reward challenge was a trip to the sanctuary to get a foot massage, sandwiches, chocolate, cookies, fruit, juice and ice tea.
During Carson, Yam Yam and Lauren’s reward feast, Carson told the private cams that he was pitching out Carolyn’s name as a target to make Lauren feel comfortable, but he’s not really with Lauren. Yam Yam told the private cams that he liked the idea of possibly getting rid of Carolyn since the numbers are dwindling.
Meanwhile, Jaime started telling Carolyn and Heidi that she wants Carson gone. Carolyn told the private cams, “I still need Carson for at least one more vote.” Heidi told Carolyn, “I can’t trust Lauren and Jaime.” Later, Carolyn told Carson and Yam Yam how Jaime had been campaigning against them while they were gone.
Yam Yam told Jaime he wants to get Carolyn out. Jamie told the private cams she agreed with the idea of getting Carolyn out. “As long as it’s one of the Tika members,” she said. Yam Yam told private cams, “It’s time that the Tika 3 (Yam Yam, Carolyn and Carson) break up. It’s about me winning now. I want to win.
After all of that, host Jeff Probst returned with a new immunity challenge for them. During it, they had to use two ropes to balance one ball on a disc without it falling for as long as they could. The last one standing, won. So, it was very straight up. It came down to Lauren and Heidi at the end, and Lauren edged out Heidi for the win. So, Lauren was safe from getting voted off at this next tribal council meeting.
Yam Yam told the private cams, “Carolyn is the biggest threat.” Elsewhere, Carolyn campaigned to Heidi to get Jaime out. Heidi appeared to agree. Heidi told Carolyn, Carson and Yam Yam, “I have no problem voting out Jamie.” Meanwhile, Jaime campaigned to Lauren to get Carolyn out. Yam Yam joined them, and they appeared to agree to all vote off Carolyn.
Yam Yam told Carson he wanted to get Carolyn out. Carson told Yam Yam, “You’re my number one. So, I’m willing to consider your ideas.” Carson told the private cams, “Carolyn is a loyal player, and I like that. So, I’m torn between voting out Carolyn or Jaime. Yam Yam told the private cams, “Carolyn is playing the best game. So, I need to get Carolyn out, but it breaks my heart” heading into the tribal council meeting.
At the tribal council meeting, everyone just did some general game talk before casting their votes. Heidi decided to play her immunity idol on herself before the votes were revealed. Then, it was revealed that Carolyn received 2 votes, and Jaime got a whopping 4 votes. So, with the 4 votes, Jaime was the one to get sent packing and off to the jury.
Jaime left on a positive note, telling everyone, “Good luck, guys” on the way out. She told the private cams, “I’m so grateful to make the top 6. This was a huge accomplishment. I had so much fun playing my favorite game in the entire world.” How do you guys feel about Jaime Lynn Ruiz getting voted off Survivor season 44 in tonight’s episode?
