‘Youth In Revolt’ Movie Brought Hysterical Comedy To The Big Screen
‘Youth In Revolt’ movie brought hysterical comedy to the big screen. “Youth In Revolt,” which is Dimension Films new comedy flick, came out this weekend and it was a whole lot better than I thought it would be. The movie trailers really don’t do it justice. It was filled with hysterically funny scenes, and almost kind of reminded me of “Superbad,” in the fact that they just kept the laughs coming. It never let up,not for one second. Michael Cera has a unique personality that just really cracks me up. The movie stars: Michael Cera, Portia Doubleday, Steve Buscemi, Ray Liotta, Justin Long, Jean Smart, Ari Graynor, Fred Willard, Zach Galifianakis, Mary Kay Place, and Rooney Mara .
“Youth In Revolt” revolved around character, Nick Twisp (Michael Cera) . He’s just an ordinary good ole guy until he meets the future love of his life,Sheeni Saunders (Portia Doubleday). As soon as he meets her, he falls head-over-hills in lover with her. He eventually falls so much for her that he’s willing to do just about anything for her,no matter how dangerous or crazy it was.
It leads him to develop an alter-ego named Francois Dillinger who gets him to do very bad things in order to capture Sheeni’s love. Some of the things involved, destroying his mother’s property, blowing up a car, running his dad’s car into a river, and traveling 200 or so miles to find her. Some unfortunate events cause his desire driven actions to come to a head, but not before winning over her affection.
Michael Cera was great in this film. He also showed a lot of range by playing his alter-ego, Francois. I also liked Justin Long, he played Sheeni’s drugged out brother, Paul Sanders. He was freakin hilarious. If you’re looking for a good comedy to watch, this is it. The only thing that was missing was a visit from Michael Cera’s “Superbad” running mate, Jonah Hill. That would’ve put the icing on the cake.
Grade A
