Top critics gave ‘Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time’ movie mixed reviews. Walt Disney Pictures released their new action/adventure/fantasy flick “Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time” into theaters today,and the top movie critics gave it some pretty mixed reviews. Some thought it was good with B ratings,and some thought it was just average or below average with C ratings. It stars: Jake Gyllenhaal, Ben Kingsley, Gemma Arterton, Alfred Molina, and Toby Kebbell.
Ty Burr from the Boston Globe gave it a C rating. He said, “it plays like an attack of multiple déjà vu.” Roger Ebert over at the Chicago Sun-Times gave it another C. He stated, “The irritating thing about special effects is that anything can happen, and often you can’t tell what the hell it is.”
Michael Phillips at the Chicago Tribune gave it a B-. He said, it was “adequately entertaining.” Lisa Schwarzbaum at “Entertainment Weekly” gave it a B rating. She said, “As sword-and-sandal fantasy movies based on videogames and starring a buffed-up Jake Gyllenhaal go, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time goes pretty well.”
Sean O’Connell from Filmcritic.com gave it a C. He said, “Prince of Persia isn’t terrible. It has its moments, but they’re fleeting.” Ray Bennet over at the “Hollywood Reporter” gave it a B-. He stated, “Sword and sand adventure that’s entertaining but without substance.”
Betsy Sharkey at the Los Angeles Times gave it a B. She said, “Jake Gyllenhaal is never quite right as Dastan, but Gemma Arterton, Alfred Molina and the visual effects and camerawork impress.”
Manohla Dargis at the New York Times gave it a C. She said, “at once generically insulting and relatively innocuous. James Berardinelli from Reelviews gave it a B-.
