Top critics gave Adam Sandler ‘Grown Ups’ movie mediocre reviews. Columbia Pictures released their new all-star comedy flick “Grown Ups” into theaters today, and the top critics thought it was pretty mediocre overall,giving it mostly Cs,and a couple of Bs and Ds. It has an all-star cast,which includes: Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, David Spade, Salma Hayek, Maria Bello,and Maya Rudolph.
Wesley Morris at the Boston Globe gave it a C rating. He stated,it “doesn’t try very hard for its laughs.” Roger Ebert at the Chicago Sun-Times gave it a C. He said, it was “a pleasant, genial, good-hearted, sometimes icky comedy that’s like spending a weekend with well-meaning people you don’t want to see again any time real soon.”
Michael Phillips at the Chicago Tribune gave it a C. He said,it was “such a dang lunkhead when it comes to slapstick.” Owen Gleiberman from Entertainment Weekly gave it a B-. He said, “Diverting enough to get by, Grown Ups is Adam Sandler growing up,but not too much.”
Rob Vaux from Filmcritic.com gave it a bad D+. He said, “it fails to provide a single reason to justify its existence.” Michael Rechtshaffen from the Hollywood Reporter gave it a D rating. He said, “This slacker Big Chill goes more slack by the second.”
James Berardinelli over at Reelviews gave it a B. He said,it was “the funniest thing in which Sandler has appeared in years.” Scott Bowles at USA Today gave it a C-.
