New Tom Cruise ‘Edge Of Tomorrow’ Movie Delivered Great Plot,Action,Drama & More

Warner Bros. Pictures released their new Tom Cruise branded, Sci-Fi/thriller flick, “Edge Of Tomorrow” into theaters this weekend. I just checked it out, and thought it was absolutely great. The plotline was super intriguing from beginning to end. It offered up a plethora of hardcore, nonstop action and drama. It stars: Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton, Jeremy Piven, Ciaran Hinds, Noah Taylor, Kick Gurry, Dragomir Mrsic, Charlotte Riley, Jonas Armstrong, Franz Drameh, Masayoshi Haneda, and Tony Way.

In the new flick, the world has been battling an alien species, called the Mimics, for the past 5 years. NATO militaries have federated to create the United Defense Forces (UDF), with defeats escalating as the war continues. As the Mimics tighten their grip on Europe, the introduction of armed mechanized exoskeletons ,called Jackets, allows the UDF to achieve a decisive victory at Verdun.

From there, we get introduced to Major William Cage (Tom Cruise), who is a UDF spokesman and officer in the United States Army Reserve that eventually gets stripped of his rank after trying to blackmail a General. He’s then sent to deploy with the rest of the soldiers into battle. William gets killed by an Alpha mimic. However, he gets the Alpha mimic’s blood all over him, allowing him to reset the day everytime he dies.

Using this power, he gets in contact with character Rita Vrataski ( Emily Blunt), who eventually reveals that she’s been through his same ordeal by telling him to find her the next time he dies and resets the day. After that, Rita reveals to William what his situation is,and why it exist. It turns out that they need to locate the Omega Mimic and kill it so, it can no longer reset the day and cut off its power to all of the lesser Mimics.

The Mimics also try to locate Williams’ location, which in turn, gives him vivid visions of where the Omega mimic is located. Once William receives these visions, he and Rita try to set off to destroy the Omega. However, it turns out to not be so easy as the visions are just a trap to trick William. So, instead, William and Rita find out that they need to get a hold of a prototype transponder device, which could theoretically ascertain the real location of the Omega if injected into an Alpha or someone with the “reset” ability.

After a couple more day resets, William and Rita were finally able to get their hands on the device to inject William with it. From there, they learned that the Omega was located deep under the Louvre in Paris,France. This sets up a huge action and suspenseful conclusion where William and Rita fly to Paris with a couple of other soldiers to destroy that got damn Omega bitch once and for all. It also served up a very interesting twist at the end.

Again, I really enjoyed watching this movie as the plotline kept me highly intrigued from start to finish. I totally dig Emily Blunt. She’s so hot and just straight up good. She and Tom Cruise worked really well together in this. The action was absolutely non-stop. It also offered some very humorous moments. I gave the movie a great A+ grade. Stay tuned.
