Hey, “MasterChef” fans. Tonight, September 6, 2023, another two, new episodes of MasterChef’s current season 13 did indeed hit the air with judges: Joe Bastianich, Gordon Ramsay and Aarón Sánchez, and we saw 3 contestants get sent packing by the time they were all over.

The first episode kicked off with the contestants learning they had to make a tasty barbecue dish for their next challenge. Brynn was safe from elimination since she won the previous challenge, and she got to pick another contestant to be safe along with her. She chose Reagan. So, both Reagan and Brynn were safe from this challenge.

Gordon said Brynn’s immunity pen was the last one for this season. So, no more immunities will be given out for winning challenges from here on out.

The contestants were given 60 minutes to make their barbecue dishes. During this challenge, Kolby started experiencing issues with the cook on his meat at one point. Kennedy said her meat was overcooked with less than a couple minutes to go. Sav said she was happy with her dish when the time ran out. Kennedy said she overcooked her meat when the time was up. “The judges will notice. I definitely messed up,” she said.

After the challenge, all the contestants presented their dishes to the judges. Grant was up first with his Double-Cut Pork Chops with Spicy Tomato Sauce, Charred Broccolini and Herb Polenta dish. Gordon said, “The meat is cooked beautifully.” Aaron said, “I loved the seasoning. Everything is spot on.” Joe said, “The pork chops were cooked very well. It’s quite good.”

Kennedy presented a Coffee Rubbed Elk Tenderloin with Forest Mushroom Medley and Carrot Puree dish. Gordon said, “This is your most lackluster dish so far.” Aaron said,”Your sauce completely got lost.” Joe said, “The overcooking of the elk ruined it for me.”

MD presented a Steamed Red Snapper with Palapa Grilled Shrimp, Papaya Salad and Grilled Sweet Potato dish. Joe said, “It looks a little sloppy.” Gordon said, “The snapper was really overcooked and underwhelming.” Joe said, “This dish is overcooked. It missed the mark.” Aaron said, “I’m a little disappointed. It was overcooked.”

Wayne presented a New York Strip & Jumbo Prawns with Spicy Mexican Rice and Salsa Verde Cruda Sauce dish. Joe said, “You nailed this dish.” Aaron said, “This is magical.” Gordon said, “Every element was elevated. Well done. Beautiful.”

Jennifer presented a Memphis Rubbed Pork Chop with Alabama White BBQ Sauce, Sweet Potato Puree and Grilled Baby Gem Lettuce & Mushrooms dish. Gordon said, “It looks elegant.” Aaron said, “The pork is well seasoned. Spot on.” Joe said, “One of the best dishes if it was well seasoned.” Gordon echoed Joe’s comments.

Kolby presented a Filet Mignon & BBQ Shrimp with Corn Ribs and Sweet Potato Casserole dish. Joe said, “The presentation is amazing.” Aaron said, “It looks like an elevated steak house.” Gordon said, “The steak is cooked beautifully. Really good job.” Joe said, “The steak and shrimp were cooked perfectly. You really nailed it.”

Sav presented a Whiskey Marinated Steak with Pontchartrain Sauce, Buttered Crab, Wilted Spinach and Grilled Oysters. Aaron said, “The butter looks overbrowned.” Gordon said, “The crab is burnt. The steak is slightly undercooked. It’s badly finished.” Aaron said, “This was too ambitious.” Joe said, “The steak was cooked well, but a little bit under. There were a bunch of mistakes here.”

After all that, the judges said Wayne presented the best dish. So, he got a big advantage for the next challenge.” The judges said Sav, Md and Kennedy had the bottom 3 dishes, and MD had the worst dish. So, MD got eliminated in this episode.

Gordon told MD, “Sadly, your red snapper was overcooked and not a great usage of the grill.” MD told the private cams, “I’m so glad I was able to bring some color to the competition.”

The second episode kicked off with the contestants learning they had to do the wall challenge. The contestants were split into pairs of two and had to cook on opposite sides of the wall. They had to make identical dishes with the use of good communication skills. The worst team got eliminated for a double elimination. Since Wayne won the last challenge, he got to pick the teams. He paired up Kennedy with Sav, Brynn with Kolby, Jennifer with Reagan and himself with Grant. They were given 60 minutes to complete this challenge.

During this challenge, they were able to collect ingredients from the pantry just one time. Wayne and Grant realized they forgot the eggs for the steak sauce. Wayne said, “We’re in big trouble.” Eventually, they both agreed to do a white wine portobello mushroom sauce instead.

Kolby and Brynn ran into a miscommunication issue with the cook of the salmon. Kolby had started cooking his before she did. Kolby also said he was really worried about their sauce.

After the time was up, all the teams presented their dishes to the judges. Wayne and Grant were up first with their Pan Seared Filet Mignon with Pomme Puree, Buffalo Carrots and White Wine Sauce & Mushrooms dish. Gordon said, “It looks like you were cooking side by side. Both filets were cooked beautifully. Delicious. The carrots are delicious.” Aaron said, “I loved the potatoes. The sauce has a nice richness. You were in tune.” Joe said the duplicity is top notch.” Gordon said,”Well done.”

Reagan and Jennifer presented a Seared Scallops with Cheese Grits, Roasted Asparagus and Carrot Puree dish. Aaron said Reagan’s scallops were cooked perfectly. Jennifer’s scallops were undercooked.” Gordon said, “The grits are delicious.” Aaron said, “Jennifer’s grits are great. Reagan’s grits are dry.” Joe said,”Reagan’s dish is more flavorable overall.”

Sav and Kennedy presented a Seared Scallops with Parsnip Puree, Wilted Spinach and Pancetta and Lemon Dill Beurre Blanc dish. Joe said, “Both scallops are close to perfect.” Gordon said, “Sav’s scallops were cooked beautifully. Kennedy’s scallops were cooked beautifully.” Aaron said, “It’s spot on.” Joe said, “Both these dishes could’ve come out of the same restaurant.”

Kolby and Brynn presented a Crispy Skin Salmon with Parsnip Puree, Braised Fennel and Raspberry & Pear Red Wine Sauce dish. Joe said, “These dishes look very different from each other. The puree looks like baby food.” Joe said, “Kolby’s salmon was way undercooked. Brynn’s salmon is perfect.” Gordon said, “Brynn’s salmon was cooked beautifully. The sauce doesn’t make sense.” Aaron said, “Kolby’s salmon is terrible.”

After all of that, the judges said Wayne and Grant had the best dish. Reagan & Jennifer and Brynn & Colby had the bottom 2 dishes, and the judges decided that Brynn and Colby had the worst dishes. So, they both got eliminated. Gordon told them, “Sadly, you made too many mistakes from start to finish. It was just not good enough to reach the top 6.”

Kolby told the private cams, “It’s hard to leave this competition, but I’m ready to pursue my dreams.” Brynn said, “I’m definitely sad. However, to have made it this far means I do have what it takes. I can’t wait to see where this takes me in the restaurant industry.”
