Hey, “48 Hours” fans. We’re back in your faces to let you know that you can indeed expect to see another brand new episode of 48 Hours hit the airwaves tonight, March 2, 2024. That’s right, guys. Tonight’s new episode will be the 21st one of 48 Hours’ current season 37, and we’ve got some new preview intel for it.

Once again, CBS dished up an official press release for tonight’s new, March 2, 2024 episode 21. So, we will certainly take a deep, deep dive into it for this preview session. Let’s get to it.

To start, we’ve got the official title for this new episode 21 of 48 Hours season 37. It’s called, “The Menendez Brothers’ Fight for Freedom.”

In tonight’s new episode 21, the 48 Hours team will take a look at what is going on with the Menendez brothers Lyle and Erik. 34 Years ago, they were given life sentences in prison for shooting their parents to death in 1989.

Fast-forward to the present, and there is some new evidence that has come up, which might support their claim that they killed their parents Jose and Kitty Menendez in self-defense and should’ve gotten convicted of manslaughter instead of murder. They’re currently waiting to get a judge’s decision on this new evidence.

In this episode, Lyle Menendez will tell his side of the story from his prison cell. The brothers alleged that their parents abused them, but the prosecution argued that they were lying about the abuse and got the judge to exclude some of the evidence of alleged abuse. That allowed them to be convicted of first-degree murder and life sentences in prison.

The new evidence that has popped up is in regards to a former member of the boy band Menudo. He alleged that he was also sexually abused by the father Jose Menendez. Jose was an executive at RCA Records at the time, which signed Menudo to a recording contract.

The Menendez brothers are represented by attorney Cliff Gardner. He told 48 HOURS, “We now have evidence that makes absolutely clear that those boys were molested. And if those boys were molested, it would’ve been manslaughter, and they would be out.” Contributor Natalie Morales handled the reporting duties for this episode and case.

CBS’ official description for tonight’s new episode 21 of 48 Hours season 37 reads like this, “Lyle and Erik Menendez have already spent nearly 34 years behind bars for gunning down their parents in 1989. Now they’re awaiting a judge’s decision on whether new evidence can support their claim that they killed in self-defense and should have been convicted of manslaughter instead of murder.
