Top critics gave ‘A Nightmare On Elm Street’ movie mediocre reviews. New Line Cinema released their new remake of “A Nightmare On Elmstreet” flick into theaters today, and most of the top movie critics thought that it was just mediocre,giving it mostly Cs and Ds. However, there were a few who liked it,and gave it a couple of Bs. The movie stars: Jackie Earle Haley, Rooney Mara, Kyle Gallner, Thomas Dekker, Kellan Lutz, Katie Cassidy, and Connie Britton.
Roger Ebert from the Chicago Sun-Times gave it a D. He said, “I stared at A Nightmare on Elm Street with weary resignation.” Michael Phillips at the Chicago Tribune gave it a C rating. He stated, it “offers dutifully grinding thrills of a routine sort.”
Luke Y. Thompson at E! Online gave it a B+. He said, it was “a worthy Freddy follow-up.” Owen Gleiberman over at “Entertainment Weekly” gave it a B- rating. He said, “I liked Haley’s dour malevolence.”
Bill Gibron at Filmcritic.com gave it another strong B+ rating. He stated, “this Nightmare makes the material its own and as a result becomes one of 2010’s most unexpected delights.” Michael Rechtshaffen at the “Hollywood Reporter” gave it a D+. He said, “Good luck staying awake.”
A.O. Scott at the New York Times gave it a C+. He said, it was “for the most part the movie traffics in overly familiar scare tactics.” James Berardinelli over at Reelviews gave it a mean C. He stated, it was “depressingly generic.”
