Paramount Pictures released their new comedy flick “Dinner For Schmucks” into theaters today,and the top movie critics gave it pretty good reviews,stating that the comedy is what saved the failing plot. The movie stars: Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, Jemaine Clement, Jeff Dunham, Bruce Greenwood, Ron Livingston, Stephanie Szostak, Lucy Davenport,and Kristen Schaal.
Ty Burr at the Boston Globe gave it a B-. He stated, “One coarse meal: Dinner for Schmucks serves up crude comedy,and a breakout role for Paul Rudd.” Roger Ebert at the Chicago Sun-Times gave it a B rating. He said, “The dinner turns into farce and finally descends into slapstick, but Carell sails through these choppy seas with a steadfast belief in human nature.”
Michael Phillips at the Chicago Tribune gave it a C-. He stated, “We have here not a remake but a stupidization of a very good French farce.” Lisa Schwarzbaum at Entertainment Weekly gave it a C. He said, “a bland, summer-sloppy comedy.”
