Top critics gave new ‘Dinner For Schmucks’ movie pretty good reviews. Paramount Pictures released their new comedy flick “Dinner For Schmucks” into theaters today,and the top movie critics gave it pretty good reviews,stating that the comedy is what saved the failing plot. The movie stars: Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, Jemaine Clement, Jeff Dunham, Bruce Greenwood, Ron Livingston, Stephanie Szostak, Lucy Davenport,and Kristen Schaal.

Ty Burr at the Boston Globe gave it a B-. He stated, “One coarse meal: Dinner for Schmucks serves up crude comedy,and a breakout role for Paul Rudd.” Roger Ebert at the Chicago Sun-Times gave it a B rating. He said, “The dinner turns into farce and finally descends into slapstick, but Carell sails through these choppy seas with a steadfast belief in human nature.”

Michael Phillips at the Chicago Tribune gave it a C-. He stated, “We have here not a remake but a stupidization of a very good French farce.” Lisa Schwarzbaum at Entertainment Weekly gave it a C. He said, “a bland, summer-sloppy comedy.”

Bill Gibron at Filmcritic.com gave it a B+. He said, “Steve Carell single-handedly saves the movie from its many failings.” John DeFore at the Hollywood Reporter gave it a B-. He stated, “Steve Carell finds a character more clueless than Michael Scott in broad laffer redeemed by occasional quirks.”

Kenneth Turan at the Los Angeles Times gave it a D rating. He said, “Not even Steve Carell and Paul Rudd can save this story of misunderstanding and humiliation from being distinctly unfunny.”

A.O. Scott at the New York Times gave it a B-. He stated, “not a great movie, or even a coherent one, but in nearly every scene it draws laughter from an impressively eclectic array of sources, both obvious and new.”

James Berardinelli over at Reelviews gave it a B-. He stated, “The film is sporadically amusing but gives the impression it should be generating more laughs than it does.” Peter Travers from Rolling Stone gave it a B-. He said, “when the silliness gets out of hand, it’s Carell and Rudd, having previously teamed in The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Anchorman, who remember to anchor the laughs in reality.”
