New ‘Casa de mi Padre’ Movie Delivered Crazy Spanish Laughs & More With Will Ferrell
New ‘Casa de mi Padre’ movie delivered crazy Spanish laughs & more with Will Ferrell. Pantelion Films released their new Will Ferrell branded,comedy/spanish language flick “Casa de mi Padre” into theaters this weekend. I just watched it,and I thought it was ok. I think I would have liked it better if it was in English, because I hate having to read subtitles, but it was still pretty funny.
The movie stars: Will Ferrell, Gael Garcia Bernal, Diego Luna, Genesis Rodriguez, Efren Ramirez, Adrian Martinez, Pedro Armendariz Jr.,and Nick Offerman. In the flick, character Armando Alvarez (Will Ferrell) has lived and worked on his father’s ranch in Mexico his entire life. However, the ranch encounters financial difficulties, and Armando’s younger brother Raul (Diego Luna), shows up with his sexy, new fiancée, Sonia (Génesis Rodríguez).
The father clearly favors Raul over Armando, and always calls Armando dumb, stupid, etc in very funny ways. Raul appears to be a successful international businessman, and pledges to settle all debts his father has incurred. However, Armando starts to fall for Sonia, and vice versa.
Then Raul’s business dealings turn out to be less than legitimate as he’s actually a drug dealer. After that is discovered, all hell breaks loose as they find themselves in a war with Mexico’s most feared drug lord, the mighty Onza.
Onza’s men show up at Sonia and Raul’s wedding and shoot up the place, killing the father. They also kill Armando at one point, but then Armando is brought back to life by a strange, talking, tiger. Yeah,I know, don’t ask because I definitely don’t have the answers for that. I think only Will Ferrell’s warped mind has the answer.
Anyways, after that,Armando returns to avenge his father’s death by helping Raul take out the evil Onza and rescuing Sonia, who Onza kidnapped. It delivered a big, dramatic conclusion with lots of gunshots, and some English language thrown in,which gave me a temporary relief from all the subtitles.
Again the movie was ok to watch. I definitely think I would have been more into it if it were in English, because Ferrell does deliver a lot of really funny material. That Genisis Rodriguez chick that played character Sonia, was super hot,eye candy for the film,so that’s always nice. I gave the movie a solid C+ grade. Follow us on Facebook by Clicking Here.
