New ‘Flight’ movie delivered great drama,storyline & more with Denzel Washington. Paramount Pictures released their new drama flick “Flight” into theaters this weekend. I just checked it out,and thought it was just great,especially for a drama movie. The storyline was just very compelling and interesting the entire time. It stars: Denzel Washington, Kelly Reilly, Don Cheadle, Bruce Greenwood, Brian Geraghty, John Goodman,and Tamara Tunie.
In the new flick, character Whip Whitaker (Denzel Washington) is a pilot who has a major drinking problem,and showed up to pilot a plane while drunk,but snorted a bit of cocaine to get him back alert for the flight. He also drunk a couple of small alcoholic beverages during the flight,but everything seemed to go well until about midway through when the plane took a sudden nose dive. A sleeping Whip was forced to wake up and take immediate control of the plane,along with his co-pilot Ken.
Eventually, Whip was able to turn the plane upside down to keep them from losing altitude and ultimately glide past populated areas ,and crashland the plane in a rural field area. Because of his excellent decision-making skills,he saved 100 lives on a flight carrying 106 people.
However, the NTSB people were all over it to do a huge investigation as to why the plane crashed,and why six lives were lost. This meant trouble for Whip as his toxicology reports were riddled with alcohol and drugs. Whips representative Charlie Anderson and attorney Hugh Lang (Don Cheadle) came on board to get rid of his toxicology reports in case they tried to blame the crash on pilot error.
Despite all the help he was getting,Whip kept making it difficult on himself to cover it all up by continuing to drink and get in trouble. Finally, he decided to allow himself to be locked up at Charlie’s house until they had to appear before the NTSB hearing for the crash.
Whip remained sober for 9 days. However, on the night just before the hearing,he got plastered again when a door to one of the other hotel rooms was accidentally unlocked and had a fridge filled with alcohol. Charlie and Hugh found him just one hour before the hearing ,and decided to call in his old drug buddy Harling Mays (John Goodman) to give him cocaine so he could get cleaned up for the hearing.
Finally, at the hearing, they revealed that the flight crash was actually caused by a faulty elevator that became locked in place. After that,a very shocking and surprising thing went down that led to a great,emotional conclusion.
