Riverdale’s Cole Sprouse Revealed Something Pretty Shocking About The Show’s Future

According to a new report from the folks over at teenvogue.com, actor Cole Sprouse (above) who plays popular character Jughead on CW’s hit drama show “Riverdale” recently revealed some pretty startling news about the future of the show.

They say Cole was giving an interview with Glamour.com when he revealed the news. Don’t worry. It’s nothing crazy about the show possibly ending soon or anything like that. What he had to say was that we’re never going to see his twin brother Dylan Sprouse make an appearance on the show. He said he wouldn’t ever want that, and that Dylan wouldn’t want it either!

He stated, “I wouldn’t want it. Dylan would never do it, and I think it would break fourth wall too much.”

Apparently, fans of his from his past TV show “The Suite Life Of Zack & Cody” have been telling him they think it would be fun, but he definitely doesn’t think so. He just thinks it would be silly. He stated, “A lot of my fans from the Suite Life still come up and say, ‘This would be fun! I think it would just be silly. It would be super, super weird and totally not appropriate.”

Adding to that, Cole went on to say that an appearance from Dylan could possibly destroy the kind of world they’ve already built on the show. He stated, “People want to see us onscreen together again, and that’s fine. That’s flattering I guess. But, if it’s going to destroy the kind of world that we’ve built on Riverdale, it’s wildly inappropriate. I already got enough family to deal with here!”

In addition to making sure we’re all clear that Dylan is never going to appear on Riverdale, Cole offered up a couple teaser scoops for what we can expect to see in the new season 2. He expressed that he hates the use of the word “darker” to describe season 2, but we should expect to see some horror.

He explained, “Darker has been so buzzed around by now it’s making me sick. I hate that word. I don’t know when it was used, but it’s so vague. I really don’t think it does a service to season two at all. Yeah, genre-wise we end up moving towards horror, but I don’t know when the word ‘darker’ was first pitched in.”

Also, we shouldn’t expect any of the storyline material to stay the same forever because it’s from the writer’s point of view. Not the fans. Cole explained, “It’s pretty inappropriate of fans to think they can expect any kind of narrative from show runners or writers or actors.

I just don’t think that’s the way you should engage with material that you’re watching as a passive audience member. Our writers are not writing as a fan service. We’re writing a show that is from the writer’s creative perspective. If we were writing what the fans wanted to see, Betty and Jughead would be the most linear, monotonous narrative of all time.”

Judging from that statement, we can definitely expect the writers to shake up the current storylines and relationships that have formed on the show to keep things interesting. One thing that we found very interesting is a scene that’s coming up in the next episode 2 which is scheduled to air this Wednesday night, October 18,2017.

Betty is going to say something to Cheryl to make her think she’s being threatened in some way. Cheryl asks Betty if she’s making a threat, and Betty just shrugs it off by saying, “No, this is just fun girl talk.”

We really can’t wait to see that scene. It could set up some more interesting conflict between Betty and Cheryl. And Cheryl is supposed to get meaner and nastier this season. Betty is supposed to get darker too. So yeah. We definitely see a lot of possible crazy drama that could possibly take place with this storyline.

In other Cole Sprouse news, teenvogue.com is reporting that fans of his have gone wild over a photo he posted on Instagram. Apparently, in the caption, Cole mentioned the “love of his life,” but he didn’t say who it was.

However, his fans have a strong belief that he could be referencing his onscreen girlfriend Lili Reinhart. They’re rumored to be dating in real life, but none of it’s actually confirmed to be true. So, we can’t say much else about it other than it’s interesting.

Update for October 23,2017: According to teenvogue.com, Cole recently answered some questions from Entertainment Weekly about him possibly dating Lili in real life. Unfortunately, he didn’t directly answer the question with a yes or no. Instead, he explained that the fans have actually wanted him to not just be dating Lili, but a couple of the other castmembers!

He said, “Since the show began, people have wanted Lili and I to be together. People have wanted Lili and Camila Mendes to be together. People have wanted KJ Apa and I to be together. People have wanted every actor on this show to be in a union that they could make real.”

After that, Cole did go on to say that he’s happy the fans want he and Lili together so much because it means they’re doing their acting jobs very well and resonating strongly with the fans. He stated,”Truthfully, it’s very pleasing that people talk about Lili and I in that way because it means that we’re resonating so strongly that people really want that to be true.”

Elsewhere, Lili recently talked to Entertainment Tonight about the kissing scenes she’s had to film with Cole Sprouse. While she didn’t refer to their kissing scenes directly, she did say the whole cast seems comfortable doing the scenes because they’re all friends.

She told them, “I feel like it’s very comfortable at this point. I mean, it’s The CW you’re not going to get too crazy. It’s just like kissing and hugging. I think we’re all so comfortable with one another that it’s not even really a thing

If we have a kissing scene, it’s fine. We don’t really think twice about it. When new characters have to kiss, it’s a little different and you’re like, ‘Oh, OK! What this?’

But, it’s easy. We’re all friends. It would be more nerve-wracking if you had to make out with someone that you didn’t know. So, if by chance we do end up having to kiss each other, it’s fine and it doesn’t feel weird.”

After that big explanation, Entertainment Tonight asked Lili how she and Cole’s relationship is in real life. She gave them a very simple answer stating, “We get along quite well. We’re doing good.” So, if anything else is going on between them, both Lili and Cole are making sure they’re tight-lipped about it at this point.

If they are actually dating in real life, maybe they’ll be more comfortable announcing it publicly in the future. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Lili was a little more open about where her character Betty and Cole’s character Jughead are headed as the current season 2 rolls along. It turns out that we’re going to see them appreciate each other a lot more after they get separated. That will set the stage for them to get more romantic and passionate!

Lili stated, “Jughead is on the Southside and Betty is on the Northside, and it’s inevitable that distance makes things hard. It definitely makes them appreciate one another more when they’re kind of being pulled apart by going to different schools. So, when they do get to see each other, it is really romantic and passionate.”

So, you guys should definitely prepare to see Betty and Jughead to show some extra passion at some point during this second season.

Alright guys, be sure to tune into to Riverdale. It airs every Wednesday night at 7 pm central standard time on the CW. Stay tuned. Also, be sure to follow us on our Riverdale Facebook page for more Riverdale news by Clicking Here.
