New Marvel’s Avengers Infinity War Sequel Important Details Revealed By Directors & More
Hey, Marvel and “Avengers” movie fans. We’ve got some very interesting and important new details for the upcoming sequel for that crazy”Avengers: Infinity War” installment that just hit theaters a few weeks back. This news comes by way of the folks over at Entertainment Weekly.
For those of you who have seen the movie, you know that the ending was absolutely insane. It featured numerous, important heroes just disintegrating into ashes after the evil Thanos was able to claim dominion over time, space, reality, and all living things after getting Doctor Strange to hand over the green Time Stone in order to spare Tony Stark’s life.
Looking ahead to the sequel, Entertainment Weekly is hinting that some of the heroes who were not seen in the first “Infinity War” flick will be the key to fixing this giant mess. Some of the heroes they named off are: Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye, Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man, and Evangeline Lilly’s Wasp. They also pointed out that Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner character will finally be able to get his Hulk counterpart to resurface and help out.
Other heroes that were mentioned for possible appearances in the sequel are Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie and Lupita Nyong’o’s Nakia. Entertainment Weekly said Joe Russo, who co-directed Infinity War and next year’s sequel with his brother Anthony Russo recently spoke at a high school in Iowa City, and reportedly confirmed that Valkyrie and other Asgardian refugees escaped Thanos’ attack aboard escape pods.
Entertainment Weekly also pointed out that the new “Ant-Man” and “The Wasp” movies are scheduled to hit theaters in July 2018 ,and they will be set in the “present” timeline concurrent with Infinity War. Then there’s the new Captain Marvel flick.
They say it’s going to introduce the hero summoned by Nick Fury’s I’ve-fallen-and-I-can’t-get-up LifeCall device in the post-credits scene for the Infinity War film. It’s scheduled to hit theaters on March 8, 2019. It will take place further back in time during the 1990s. So, one of the mysteries is where Carol Danvers has been all these other times that life on Earth hung in the balance.
Ant-Man and the Wasp can go quantum, shrinking down so small that they pass into another reality. Captain Marvel has as-yet-undetermined powers that could give her the ability to break through into different timelines. She could very well be suspended in another era or a parallel dimension, awaiting the signal that things are so desperate they need to call in her secret weapon.
Entertainment Weekly said the Infinity War screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely mentioned that the new Ant-Man, Wasp and Captain Marvel movies will be self-contained, but will also definitely foreshadow events in the Avengers Infinity War Sequel which is scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 3, 2019.
In an interview, Christopher and Stephen spoke about the balancing act they’ve had to do with the timeline of these movies. Stephen said, “There are certain requests we’ve made.” Christopher said, “It has been a weird coordination/dance. Sometimes, you have to ask what they’re doing, and sometimes you have to tell them what would be helpful. Or You kinda absolutely have to do this. A lot of times it worked out perfectly.”
The Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo described the two Infinity War movies as two complete narratives saying, “We like to think of them as two complete narratives. You’re getting two whole films. It’s not like we just chopped them in half. Marvel is serialized storytelling, and the stories continue one movie to the next.”
Entertainment Weekly mentioned that there will definitely be some sort of reversal for what took place in the final moments of Infinity War. However, some of the ramifications will stick. The President of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige commented on the future Marvel stories that are coming up after these two Avengers Infinity War films. He said, “It’s exciting because you start to even think differently about how the characters are interacting. What characters’ stories are coming to a close, and what characters’ stories are only just beginning, albeit in different ways.
All those stories will continue. I think they’ll continue in surprisingly different and unexpected ways after these two Avengers films.” Lastly, Entertainment Weekly pointed out that there will be a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 movie, another Spider-Man stand-alone movie with Tom Holland, and a return to Black Panther’s kingdom of Wakanda movie.
So, there’s definitely a lot of other exciting movies to look forward to from the Marvel Universe. There’s no doubt about that.
