Amazing Race Season 31 Eliminated Janelle & Britney Tonight, May 22, 2019 (Recap)

Hey, “The Amazing Race” fans. Tonight, May 22, 2019, another team was sadly eliminated in a big, two-hour, back-to-back episode extravaganza! That’s right, guys. Two, freaking episodes.

The first episode kicked off with the final eight teams having to head to Dubai to get their hands on the next clue. They were all on the same flight to start this thing off. Once they arrived in Dubai, they were directed to look inside some luxury cars to get their next clue. Once they found it, they were directed to travel by taxi to Dubai Frame to get their next clue.

Once they got to Dubai Frame, they had to complete their Detours, which were either the “Fall” detour or the “Find” detour. In the Fall detour, the teams had to perform a virtual reality game of parachuting off a building, and then pass a written test about what they saw in the game.

In the “Find” detour, the teams had to locate five different colored Dinosaur eggs that were scattered around a park to get their next clue.

After the teams completed their detours, they had to head to the Soho Garden to get their next clue. Once they got to the Soho Garden, the teams learned they had to complete a Road Block to acquire their next clue.

The Road Block consisted of a party with everyone wearing headphones and listening to different music. One team member had to wear a headphone too, and they had to somehow find the other person in the crowd listening to the same music. They had to use very impeccable observational skills to get this one completed, or they just had to get really, really lucky.

After the teams completed the music listening Road Block challenge, they were directed to head to the pit stop for this leg of the race, which was the Dubai Marina.

Becca and Floyd ended up arriving in first place and won a whopping $5,000 each for their winning efforts. Chris and Bret arrived in second place. Colin and Christie showed up in 3rd place. Tyler and Korey took 4th place.

Nicole and Victor got 5th place. Janelle and Britney took the 6th spot. Leo and Jamal came in 7th place. Then poor Rachel and Elissa just could never get it together. So, they arrived in the 8th and last place. However, Host Phil Keoghan told them it was a non-elimination leg, which meant they got to stick around to race another day!

Right after that,the next back to back episode 6 aired. It kicked off with the teams learning they had to head to Uganda. Once they arrived in Uganda, they had to catch a taxi to the Columbia National Mosque to get their next clue.

Once they arrived at the Columbia National Mosque, the teams learned they had to walk up all the steps in a minaret and count the number of steps in between certain marks. The correct total was 272.

After the teams completed that exhausting challenge, they were directed to take another taxi ride to the Owing Market to get their next clue. Once they arrived at the Owing Market, the teams were hit with a Road Block challenge.

In this Road Block challenge, the teams had to gather up ingredients for a particular sandwich that was named Rolex. Then they had to correctly make the Rolex Sandwich to get their next clue. The Rolex sandwich consisted of various vegetables and eggs wrapped in bread. It looked pretty delicious.

In this challenge, Britney and Janelle fell way behind because Janelle had a really difficult time locating the Rolex sandwich stand to find out the ingredients.

After the Sandwich Road Block, the teams were directed to go to the Ggaba Landing Site to get their next clue. It was also revealed that Rachel and Elissa had to complete a Speed Bump challenge to continue since they finished last in the previous leg. Rachel and Elissa had to hand wash laundry to complete their speed bump challenge. They finished it up pretty fast to get back in the main race.

The Ggaba Landing site clue directed the teams to go to the Village Boat builders to get their next clue. Once they arrived there, they were hit with their detours. They had to complete either the “Salty Roll” detour or the “Move The Pole” detour.

In the “Salty Roll” detour, the teams had to clean off a bunch of dirty fish to get their next clue. In the “Move The Pole” detour, the teams had to gather up a bunch of logs and transport them to the right location to get their next clue.

After they finished that up, the teams had to do a head-to-head challenge with another team to make it to the pit stop for this leg of the race. This gave even the last place team a chance to advance to the next leg. In the head-to-head challenge, the teams had to arrange drums in the correct stacks to win.

Tyler battled Colin first. Tyler beat Colin. So, Tyler and his teammate Korey arrived in first place, and won a trip to Singapore for their winning efforts.

Next, Victor battled Colin, and Colin won. So, Colin and Christie showed up in second place. After that, Victor battled Chris, and Victor won. So, Victor and Nicole took third place.

Then Bret battled Floyd, and Bret won. So, Chris and Bret came in 4th place. Next, Floyd battled Leo,and Floyd won. So, Floyd and Becca arrived in 5th place.

After that, Jamal battled Rachel,and Jamal won. So, Jamal and Leo took 6th place. Finally, the last head-to-head battle took place between Rachel and Britney. Rachel pulled out the win so she and Elissa could take that 7th and final spot.

That meant poor, former Big Brother players Janelle Pierzina and Britney Haynes did indeed get eliminated and had to say goodbye to the Amazing Race season 31 in episode 6.
