MasterChef August 1, 2019 Eliminated Wuta Onda (Episode 15 Recap)

Hey, “MasterChef” fans. Tonight, August 1, 2019, the 15th episode of this current season 10 did indeed air with judges: Gordon Ramsay, Aarón Sanchez, and Joe Bastianich. They also brought on a special guest judge superstar pastry chef Candace Nelson.

This was, of course, another elimination show. So, another unlucky cook did get sent packing. It was revealed that the cooks had to whip up a bunch of delicious macarons in 60 minutes. They had to make a dozen of them and two unique flavors. Candace said their technique would have to be flawless to pull this task off.

Once the cooking got underway, Jamie mentioned that he wanted to make a Christmas, red macaron. Bri told Gordon she was making a chocolate mint and chocolate orange macaron.

Noah mentioned he was making a raspberry chocolate macaron. At one point, Subha made the judges start to worry because he took a long time trying to find certain colors he wanted to use. He said everyone else took the colors he wanted.

Also, Subha told Gordon, he’s making an orange flavored macaroon. Gordan told him, “Just make sure to keep the powdered sugar in the bowl.” Apparently, Subha was stirring like a mad man.

Sarah revealed she’s making a blueberry almond macaron. Fred told Joe he was making a cheesecake and sesame macaron. Joe said it was looking good. Nick said he was trying to wip up a passion fruit macaron.

Micah told Gordon he was making a lavender and blackberry and lemon buttercream macaron. Bri caused the judges to worry at 30 minutes to go. They said she was behind.

Sarah told Joe and Aaron she was making a swiss meringue buttercream macaron. Micah ran into problems at around 12 minutes left. His pink macarons turned brown. He also had some problems with the caramelization.

Subha ran into problems with the cook time. He was taking too friggin long. Nick ran into problems with his macarons being undercooked and breaking apart. He put them back in the oven hoping it would get them to stay together, but there wasn’t much time left.

Wuta was worried he didn’t have enough time at 45 seconds to go. He was right. He wasn’t able to make all 12. Nick revealed he was upset with his performance when the 60 minute buzzer rang.

At this point, it was time for the judges to taste what the cooks made. Noah was up first. He presented Raspberry and Chocolate Macarons and Coffee and Mint Chocolate Macarons. Candace said, “It’s missing a body.” Gordon said, “They aren’t good enough just yet.” Aaron said, “The flavor rescued it a little bit.”

Next, Bri presented Chocolate and Orange Macarons and Chocolate Mint Macarons. Candice said, “It’s lacking refinement. They’re grainy, but they tasted good. I would never display them in my shop.” Joe said, “These are just not what we were looking for.”

Fred presented Cinnamon Infused Macarons with Mascarpone and Lemon-Berry Coulis and Black Sesame Macarons. Aaron said, “The ruffle is beautiful. Good start.” Gordon said, “They taste exceptional.” Candace said, “I would love to sell them in my shop.” They told Fred he was safe this week.

Micah presented Lavender Macarons and Lemon Macarons. He was only able to make 11 because he messed up. Candace said, “The caramelization is bad.” Gordon said, “Not your best challenge.”

Nick served up Rosewater and Pistachio Macarons, and Passion Fruit Macarons. Gordon said, “They are visually bad. Never cook a macaron twice.” Candace said, “There’s no body inside of these. They have a shiny shell.” Aaron said, “This is not a good representation of you. It’s all wrong.”

Wuta presented Lemon and Blueberry Macarons and Orange Carrot Cake Macarons. Candace said, “These have technical issues, and they’re too sweet.” Gordon said, “They’re too sweet. I couldn’t take another bite.”

Sarah presented Raspberry Rosewater Macarons and Blackberry and Almond Macarons. Gordon said, “The colors are nice. They’re delicious.” Candace said, “They have a fancy touch I appreciate.” Joe said, “These are good.” They told Sarah she was safe.

Next, Shari presented Saffron and Cardamom Macarons and Dark Chocolate Macarons. Candace said, “They are perfection. The fillings pop.” Gordon said, “You are way beyond top 10 with these. These are the best macarons I’ve ever tasted in any season.” They told Shari she was safe.

Subha presented Orange Macarons and Rosewater Macarons. Gordon said, “They look like nuggets instead of macarons. Joe said, “The flavor is good.” Candace said, “They have a decent amount of chew, but they are visually bad.”

Jamie presented Vanilla Latte and Espresso Macarons and Raspberry Macarons. Candace said, “They are visually beautiful and have good flavors.” Gordon said, “You’re hitting those marks.” Joe said, “They’re good.” They told Jamie he was safe.

Next, the judges told Micah, Wuta, Bri,Subha,Noah and Nick that they did not do a good job with this comp, but they went ahead and saved everyone except Wuta and Subha at this point.

So, Subha and Wuta were the bottom two. Next, they revealed Subha’s nice flavors saved him once again. So, Wuta was eliminated.
