The terrific folks over at HBO finally delivered up the press releases for the back half of this first season of Perry Mason. It, of course, included the press release for episode 6, which has a couple of teaser descriptions. We’re going to go over those right now. Let’s get into it.
For starters, episode 6 is officially titled, “Chapter Six.” It sounds like episode 6 will feature some very interesting, dramatic, intense and possible action-filled scenes as Emily’s trial starts up.
Della and Strickland investigate a potential connection. Mason thinks about betraying Drake’s trust. Birdy encourages Sister Alice to abandon her plans and more.
We’ll go ahead and start off this spoiler session with the Emily situation. It turns out that Emily’s trial will surely begin in this episode. We’re also going to see a problematic testimony from a certain witness. Meanwhile, Mason will try to recover from a rocky start.
HBO’s official description for this Emily and Mason storyline reads like this, “As Emily’s (Gayle Rankin) trial begins and a damning witness testimony takes center stage, Mason (Matthew Rhys) attempts to recover from a shaky start.”
What will this damning witness testimony turn out to be? That’s a big question for this storyline. We expect to see that question get answered before the hour is up.
It definitely sounds like this storyline could offer up some very interesting and possible dramatic scenes depending on what this testimony turns out to be.
The second spoiler scoop reveals that Della and Strickland will certainly be hard at work, trying to get an exoneration. They will look into a possible connection between Detective Ennis and Charlie’s kidnappers.
HBO’s description for this Della and Strickland plotline reads like this, “In their search for clues that might lead to an exoneration, Della (Juliet Rylance) and Strickland (Shea Whigham) investigate a potential connection between Detective Ennis (Andrew Howard) and Charlie’s kidnappers.”
Will Della and Strickland find what they’re looking for in this intense search? That’s a very important question for this ongoing plotline. We can officially tell you, right now, that Strickland is going to lose track of a very significant eye witness in episode 7. So, look out for that.
The 3rd spoiler teaser reveals that Mason will be considering something extremely risky in an effort to get a one up for his client. At some point, Mason will heavily think about betraying Drake’s trust.
HBO’s description for this Mason storyline reads like this, “Mason considers betraying Drake’s (Chris Chalk) trust to give his client an edge in court.”
What will Mason ultimately decide in this scenario? That’s another big question we’ll be looking to see get answered in this episode. It sounds like this storyline could feature some possible intense and serious scenes for sure.
The 4th and last teaser description lets us know that Birdy will have a very interesting and serious-sounding conversation with Sister Alice in this episode. At some point, Birdy will try hard to convince Sister Alice that she needs to cancel her plans she had all mapped out for Easter Sunday before time runs out!
HBO’s description for this Birdy and Sister Alice storyline reads like this, “Birdy (Lili Taylor) urges Sister Alice (Tatiana Maslany) to scrap her Easter Sunday plan before it’s too late.”
Will Sister Alice heed Birdy’s warning? We’re not sure, but we can tell you that Alice is going to come under some heavy pressure from the church elders for her resurrection promises in episode 7. So, get ready for Alice to encounter some heavy drama over these next, two episodes.
Episode 6 was written by Kevin J. Hynes, and it was directed by Deniz Gamze Ergüven.
