The Amazing Race March 2, 2022 Winner Revealed In Finale Episode (Recap)
Hey, “The Amazing Race” fans. Tonight, March 2, 2022, the huge, 2-hour finale episode of The Amazing Race’s current season 31 did indeed air, and we finally found out who won this thing!
Tonight’s finale episode kicked off with the teams learning they had to fly to Lisbon,Portugal to get their first clue for the first leg of the race. Once they got it, they had to go to Fortaleza de São Filipe to to get their next clue. Once they got it, they were informed that they had to knock out two Road Block challenges.
In the first Road Block challenge, one teammember from each team had to find a boat that was named after a Portuguese explorer. Then, they had to row it to the other side of the marina to get their next clue. Ryan & Dusty passed up Arun & Natalia at this challenge despite them having to start in this leg of the race. Apparently, Arun got hung up on finding a boat with the right name on it. He also wasn’t good at rowing. So, he was super slow.
After the teams finished up the boat Road Block, they had to travel on foot to Mercearia Confiança de Troino to get their next clue. When they got there, they had to complete another challenge called, “Paint The Town.”
During it, they had to replicate a sardine can label design by correctly painting it on a door to get their next clue. They didn’t have to be artists for this one. Think of it as those kid, coloring books where the design is already laid out. They just had to color in the areas. That’s what this challenge was.
Once the teams completed the “Paint The Town” challenge, they were directed to drive to Santuário do Cabo Espichel to get their next clue. When they got there, they were hit with their second Roadblock challenge. During it, they had to correctly count 106 columns of two wings of a huge church while standing in one spot to get their next clue.
After finishing up that second Road Block, the teams were directed to head to a light house, which was the pit stop for this leg of the race. Raquel & Cayla took first place, and won a trip for two to St. Lucia from Travelocity. Kim & Penn came in 2nd place. Dusty & Ryan claimed the 3rd spot. So, poor Arun and Natalia came in last, and host Phil Keoghan confirmed that they were officially eliminated this time.
After all of that, we were shown the second episode of tonight, which was the grand finale. To kick it off, the teams learned that had to fly to sunny, Los Angeles, California for this finale leg. Once they got there, they had to go to the Westin Hotel to get their first clue.
Once there, they had to go up to the rooftop and unlock their clue from one of the locked boxes. They were told the combination to the lock was traveling up and down. So, it was located on the elevators. The teams could look out over the tower and see the elevators if they figured it out. Ryan & Dusty got hung up on this one for too long and lost a lot of valuable time.
Once the teams got their clue from the locked boxes, they had to drive to El Pueblo de Los Angeles to get their next clue. Once they got there, they were given another challenge they had to complete. During it, one teammember had to direct the other one who was blindfolded in busting open certain pinatas. They had to bust open 3, special pinatas that contained clues.
Once they finished up the pinatas challenge, they had to go to S.I.R. Hollywood to get their next clue. When they got there, they were given the task of correctly adding sound effects to five of this season’s most memorable moments. They did in a sound studio, using a technique called foley.
Once they successfully finished the sound effects challenge, the teams had to got to the LA Galaxy stadium to get their final clue. When they got there, they had to solve a giant memory quiz to win the grand prize.
During this challenge, Raquel & Cayla actually got there ahead of Pen & Kim, but Raquel & Cayla ran into some trouble with it. So, Kim & Penn were able to complete it ahead of them and claim The Amazing Race season 33 victory!
That’s right, guys. Kim & Penn won it all in this finale episode. Raquel & Cayla came in second, and poor Ryan & Dusty finished 3rd. Ryan & Dusty did complete the whole thing, but that first challenge totally messed up any chance they had for even coming close to winning this thing.
So, congrats to Kim & Penn for their win. How do you guys feel about Kim & Penn winning The Amazing Race season 33? Let us know in the comments section.
