Michael ran into problems with his dish at about 5 minutes left to go. Gordon ran over him to give him some advice. He told him to compose himself.

After their time was up, Michael was up first to present his Chili Rubbed Loin of Lamb with Roasted Poblano Grit Cake, Corn Puree and Birria Jus dish. Gordson said, “It looks good. The corn cakes need to be more crispy. The lamb was slightly overcooked. Everything else was good.”

Aaron said, “Overall, the flavor is pleasant.” Graham said, “The flavors are all there. I think you did a good job.” Joe said, “I enjoyed the corn cakes more than the lamb. It was quite good.”

Dara presented a Chinese-Style Short Ribs with Japanese Sweet Potato, Spiced Carrots, Caramelized Onions and Carrot Top Gremolata dish. Gordon said, “Visually, it looks beautiful. You took a big risk, and it paid off. It’s delicious.” Aaron said, “It’s rich and thought provoking food. Well done.” Graham said, “Great job.” Joe said, “I would serve this in my restaurant. Great job.”

Christian presented a Cajun Rubbed Filet Mignon with Shrimp & Crab Cake, Sauteed Turnip Greens, Parsnip Puree and Tomato Cajun Cream Sauce dish. Gordon said, “It looks great. It’s absolutely delicious.”

However, they did point out that two of Christian’s steaks were rare instead of medium-rare. Aaron said, “The steak is a little underdone, but it has good flavor.” Joe said, “I really like this dish, but two of them would’ve gotten rejected at my restaurant.”

Next up, was the dessert round. They brought on former MasterChef judge and dessert queen Christina Tosi to be a guest judge for this one.

Michael said he was making a deep fried milk and ice cream dish. Dara said she was making a floating island dish. Christian said he was making a southern banana pudding dish that’s dedicated to his late grandmother Dorothy. They were given 60 minutes to complete their desserts.

During the dessert round, Dara told the private cams, “I’m feeling a little pressure because everyone knows pastries are my specialty.”

Michael told Christina and Gordon about his dish, and they wished him good luck. Christian told Aaron about his banana pudding dish. He said, “It has lots of layers of flavor.” Aaron said, “Alright, handle your business.”

Dara told Joe about her floating island dish. She said, “It’s almost like a rice crispy treat.” Joe said, “I can’t wait. Thanks, Dara.”

At one point, the judges expressed concern that Michael might be using too much liquid nitrogen for his ice cream. Christina said, “That’s not a great recipe for a dessert.” They were worried Michael was trying to do too much again.

After the 60 minutes was up, Dara was first to present her Vanilla Ile Flottante with Creme Anglaise, Tropical Fruit and Caramelized Forbidden Rice dish. Gordon said, “It looks beautiful.” Christina said, “I like that you brought big flavor. It was a really thoughtful dessert. It’s a beautiful dessert.” Gordon said, “It’s a little too sweet, but very good.” Aaron said, “It’s pleasant. Well done.” Joe said, “It’s really smart. Very good.”

Michael presented a Tres Leches, Homemade Mango Ice-Cream, Deep Fried Milk, Cajeta “Goat’s Milk” Caramel and Tropical Fruit Salsa dish. Gordon said, “Visually, it’s intriguing.” Aaron pointed out that his plate was missing one of the fried milk squares. Michael fessed up and said he was hoping Aaron would be the most forgiving for missing one of the components.

Gordon said, “You should’ve just left it out on all of our plates, and we wouldn’t have noticed it.” After tasting it, Gordon said, “The ice cream is delicious. You’re pushing the boundaries.” Christina said, “It’s a beautiful dessert.” Aaron said, “It’s a beautiful bite.” Joe said, “I would serve this dessert in my restaurant.”

Christian presented his Dorothy’s Southern Banana Pudding with Bourbon Caramel Sauce, Salted Pecans and Lemon Cookie dish. Gordon said, “It’s delicious, but you could’ve elevated it a touch more.” Christina said, “It’s a really delicious dessert. I just wish I could’ve seen more of you in it instead of Dorothy.” Aaron said, “It’s honest just like you.” Joe said, “There were things you could do to make it better, but good job.”

After all of that, all the five judges discussed all the dishes the finalists presented from every round, and they decided that Dara won! That’s right, guys. Dara is your new MasterChef champ for this current season 12.

Michael said, “Dara deserves this, and it was a pleasure cooking beside her.” Chrsitian said, “To come this close to winning, I can’t be upset at myself.” Dara said, “I came back to win, and that’s exactly what I did.” How do you guys feel about Dara Yu winning it all in Masterchef season 12?
