American Idol April 30, 2023 Eliminated Lucy Love & Nutsa. Top 10 Revealed (Recap)

Hey, “American Idol” fans. Tonight, April 30, 2023, another new episode of American Idol did hit the air. Tonight, it was a performance/results episode. All the judges: Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie were, of course, all on hand to deliver their critiques and praises.

Tonight’s performances kicked off with Tyson Venegas singing, “For Once In My Life” song by Stevie Wonder. Afterwards, Luke said, “You looked so comfortable. You weren’t even trying to make the magic happen.” Lionel said, “I liked your choreography. You were on fire.” Katy said, “I liked your stage presence and versatility. You just be you,”

Warren Peay sang, “House of the Rising Sun” song by the Animals. Afterwards, Lionel said, “The song may have started too low, but you came out of it.” Katy said, “I liked your gritty voice and how you stay true to himself.” Luke said, “The front end of the song was a little low, but it was still a great performance.”


Haven Madison performed, “Living on a Prayer” song by Bon Jovi. Afterwards, Katy said, “I don’t know who you are. I’m threatened. You’re the next big pop star.” Luke said, “This is a huge step out moment, and you’re a massive star.” Lionel said, “You were ready for this. Your confidence is staring us in the face. There is a star written all over you.”

Lucy Love sang, “All Night Long” song by Lionel Richie. Afterwards, Luke said, “I am so glad we brought you back. You showed us so much character that’s unique to you. I loved her runs. You put your stamp on them.” Katy said, “You have such an artistic style. You bodied that song. Trust in your voice.” Lionel said, “You took my song, and made it your song. Crazy good.”

Oliver Steele sang, “Georgia on My Mind” song by Ray Charles. Afterwards, Lionel said, “You did a fabulous job.” Katy said, “I can’t get enough of your voice, but I wished you would have used the electric guitar instead.” Luke said, “Your voice is timeless.”

Colin Stough sang, “Midnight Rider” song by Allman Brothers. Afterwards, Katy said, “I think you’re still in a growth stage. I wanted you to attack it with feeling, but it still sounds great.” Luke said, “I want you to move around more. Do what the music tells you to do. We want more big star out of you.” Lionel said, “We want you to get nasty.”

Marybeth Byrd sang, “Dancing Queen” song by ABBA. Afterwards, Luke said, “I love how you made that you. You didn’t overdo anything. Great job.” Lionel said, “You just delivered the goods.” Katy said, “You’re really glam now! You landed that song like a real queen.”

At this point, season 8 runner up Adam Lambert hit the stage to do a special performance. He sang, “I Can’t Stand the Rain” song.

Next, Wé Ani sang, “Something’s Got a Hold on Me” song by Etta James. Afterwards, Lionel said,”That was how you bring nasty to the table! Break out performance.” Katy said, “You did not come here to play. You just turned this thing into a competition.” Luke said, “It was nasty, it was mesmerizing. Way to go.”

Nutsa sang, “The Show Must Go On” song by Queen. Afterwards, Katy said, “Don’t change! I think you took what Adam said to heart. The word nuts is in your name! You will be Nutsa, forever and always!” Luke said, “You got to fight every day, and that’s what you do. You make all eyes in the room go on you.” Lionel said, “You are a star. You’ve made it.”

Megan Danielle sang, “Angel by Montgomery” song by Bonnie Raitt. Afterwards, Luke said, “I’m a mess! I’m so emotional about what you just did. This was like an award show performance. That was absolutely incredible.” Lionel said, “That was a steller, killer performance.” Katy said, “I finally believe in you.”

Zachariah Smith sang, “Don’t Bring Me Down” song by ELO. Afterwards, Lionel said, “You brought the party to the stage! You’re entertaining. That’s what half the business is.” Katy said, “We love you. There’s no one else like you.” Luke said, “I need a drink! You guys are killing it!”

To close out tonight’s performances, Iam Tongi sang, “Bring it On Home to Me” song by Sam Cooke. Afterwards, Katy said, “That was magic. You are the one.” Luke said, “There is no way people can’t love you. People just love you, buddy. That move without the guitar was brave.” Lionel said, “The crowd is saying it all.”

After all of that, host Ryan Seacrest revealed that everyone was safe with America’s vote except for poor Lucy Love and Nutsa. That means the top 10 contestants are for American Idol season 21 are: Warren Peay, We Ani, Iam Tongi, Megan Danielle, Zachariah Smith, Haven Madison, Colin Stough, Oliver Steele, Tyson Venegas and Marybeth Byrd.
