American Idol April 25, 2022 Eliminated Tristen Gressett. Top 10 Revealed (Recap)
Hey, “American Idol” fans. Tonight, April 25, 2022, another LIVE, performance/elimination episode For American Idol’s current season 20 did air, and we found out who made it into the glorious top 10 after it was all said and done.
The judges: Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan were definitely on hand to give their usual criticisms and comments. They also participated in a special Judges’ Song Contest twist. Apparently, they picked out songs for the contestants to sing. Then, the contestants got to choose which song they wanted to sing. The judge with the most songs chosen by the contestants won the Judges’ Song Contest and got the opportunity to save one of the bottom 2, vote-getting contestants tonight.
The Voice season 8 contestant India Carney and Adriana McPhee mentored the contestants. Adriana McPhee is former American Idol season 5 runner up Katharine McPhee’s sister.
Nicolina Bozzo kicked off tonight’s performances by singing, “Since U Been Gone” by Kelly Clarkson. Afterwards, Katy said, “You showed a new side to yourself that we didn’t expect.” Lionel said, “I wanted fire from you. You lit up the room.” Luke said, “It was fun seeing you in that light.”
Mike Parker sang, “Chasin You” by Morgan Wallen. Afterwards, Luke said, “You did your own thing on it.” Lionel said, “I loved that you made it your song. I loved the vibe. You gave us show business.” Katy said, “You parked that car so nice.”
Fritz Hager sang, “Wonderwall by Oasis.” Afterwards, Luke said, “You did a great job.” Lionel said, “It was perfect.” Katy said, “You flipped it on its head, and it was brilliant.”
Christian Guardino performed, “I’m Not the Early One” by Sam Smith. Afterwards, Katy said, “I loved that this song had both soul and gospel.” Luke said, ” I could see your nerves, but it’s fun to watch.” Lionel said, “You’re special. You turned Sam’s song into your own song.”
Noah Thompson sang, “Heartbreak Warfare” by John Mayer. Afterwards, Luke said, “I liked that you challenged yourself.” Lionel said, “You are really stepping into that space of your career.” Katy said, “Who is going to pay for my extra hour of therapy?”
Lady K sang, “Traitor by Olivia Rodrigo.” Afterwards, Lionel said, “I took you out of your wheelhouse, and you won the challenge.” Katy said, “You’ve grown so much. Your story was so beautiful.”
HunterGirl performed “9 to 5” by Dolly Parton. Afterwards, Katy said, “I liked your stage presence.” Lionel said, “I thought it was great.”
Leah Marlene sang, “Make You Feel My Love by Bob Dylan.” Afterwards, Katy said, “That was an angelic performance.” Luke said, “I would stand on top of a 12-foot ladder to give you a bigger standing ovation.”
Tristen Gressett performed, “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” by Rolling Stones. Afterwards, Katy said, “It was like electricity in a bottle.” Luke said, “Way to get out here and have fun.” Lionel said, “It was a show stopping performance.”
Emyrson Flora sang,”Lovely” by Billie Eilish. Afterwards, Katy said, “It was amazing.” Luke said, “You are a pro at such a young age.” Lionel said, “It was perfect.”
To close out tonight’s performances, Jay Copeland sang, “Lilac Wine” by Jeff Buckley. Afterwards, Katy said, “It was beautiful and controlled and your best performance.” Luke said, “You’re like Nat King Cole reborn.” Lionel said, “This is one of the greatest performances I’ve ever seen in my life. You had absolute control.”
After all of that, host Ryan Seacrest revealed that judges Katy Perry and Luke Bryan tied for first place with 4 of their songs being chosen by the contestants. So, they jointly got to save one of the singers that landed in the bottom 2 tonight.
Ryan revealed that Noah Thompson, Christian Guardino, Fritz Hager, Nicolina Bozzo, HunterGirl, Emyrson Flora, Leah Marlene, Jay Copeland and Mike Parker were all safe, tonight, and through to the top 10.
That meant that poor Lady K and Tristen Gressett landed in the bottom two. So, judges Katy Perry and Luke Bryan chose to save Lady K. So, she rounded out the top 10. That also meant that poor Tristen Gressett couldn’t quite pull it off and was eliminated tonight. How do you guys feel about tonight’s results? Let us know in the comments section.
