‘Alice In Wonderland’ Movie Gets Pretty Good Reviews From Top Critics
‘Alice In Wonderland’ movie gets pretty good reviews from top critics. Walt Disney Pictures has released their new,much anticipated Tim Burton’s “Alice In Wonderland” movie today,and the top movie critics in the biz gave it pretty good reviews. However, some didn’t like it as much,giving it a few Cs,but overall, it got pretty good reviews. It stars: Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Crispin Glover, Matt Lucas, Mia Wasikowska, Alan Rickman, Stephen Fry, Michael Sheen, Timothy Spall, Christopher Lee, Paul Whitehouse, and Barbara Windsor.
Ty Burr from the Boston Globe gave it a C. He stated, “entertaining but not nearly twisted enough.” Roger Ebert over at the Chicago Sun-Times gave it a B rating. He said, “The film is enchanting in its mordant way until, unfortunately, it arrives at its third act.”
Michael Phillips of the Chicago Tribune gave it a B. He said, “Disney takes a chance — and succeeds with this Tim Burton fantasy update.” Matt Stevens from E! Online gave it a C+. He stated, “This updated Alice should’ve been madly inventive, but instead feels like we’ve been down this rabbit hole before.”
Owen Gleiberman from “Entertainment Weekly” gave it another C,stating, it was a “murky, diffuse, and meandering.” Christopher Null at Filmcritic.com gave it a C-. He said, “Burton takes the guts of the Alice in Wonderland tale and turns it inside out.”
Michael Rechtshaffen over at the “Hollywood Reporter” gave it a great A rating. He said, it was “Truly, madly wonderful.” Kenneth Turan from the Los Angeles Times gave it another C. He stated, “It has its successful moments but it’s surprisingly inert overall, more like a Burton derivative than something he actually did himself.”
Lou Lumenick at the New York Post gave it a B-. He said, “The film’s energy level picks up with the arrival of Bonham Carter’s enormous-headed Red Queen.” The New York Times’ Manohla Dargis gave it a C. She said, it was “busy, garish and periodically amusing.”
Peter Travers from Rolling Stone gave it a B-. He stated, “The actors help enormously, but only a few are given the time to stretch out and insinuate themselves.”
