Disney World: A Big Accident Took Place At Disney World’s Epcot Today
Hey, Disney World fans. Unfortunately, we have some pretty bad news for you guys today. It turns out that somebody just didn’t know how to drive today at Disney World, and it caused about 15 unsuspecting bus passengers to incur some injuries!
According to the folks over at FOX News, a big bus accident happened near Disney World’s Epcot Center. The Florida Highway Patrol is saying that a bus that was transporting 15 people, ended up rear-ending a second bus near the Epcot toll plaza! The unfortunate tragedy happened at around 10am eastern standard time today, December 11, 2018.
Lt. Kim Montes informed the Orlando Sentinel that 15 of those 50 people were injured during the wreck. Fortunately, these were just minor injuries. So, no one was severely hurt. A witness of the accident actually hit up their Twitter account to post photos of the crazy event. Twitter user Hastin@hastin included the caption: “A bus collided with another bus at the EPCOT entrance. Lots of fire department and saw a Ambulance being loaded.”You guys can view that tweet over on Twitter by Clicking Here.
FOX News said the eye witness also revealed that the two right-hand entry lanes of the toll plaza were subsequently closed. The tweet read like this, “The 2 right hand entry lanes we’re closed, there was 2 Reedy Creek FD trucks on site, several police cars, and 2 ambulances and several Disney Transport vans,” noting he “was shocked that we saw the broken glass.”
Disney World did make a statement to FOX News. They told them that the people who were injured were non-emergency and not life-threatening. A spokesperson for Disney World said, “Nothing is more important than the safety of our guests and castmembers, and we are currently focused on the well-being of those involved in the situation.”
FOX News pointed out that Disney World is currently working with the Florida Highway Patrol to investigate the accident.
Some additional intel from Themeparkinsider.com reveals that responders from Orange and Osceola counties were also called in to assist responders from Disney World’s Reedy Creek Improvement District.
Currently, there’s no information on what might have caused the crash. Incidents like these are quite rare, but they obviously do happen. Themeparkinsider.com pointed out that Walt Disney World’s bus network transports tens of thousands of visitors across the resort each day, from hotels to theme parks and back again. The buses typically run with all their seats filled along with several standing passengers.
Some additional info from Wesh.com , which is a local Florida TV station, reveals that there was minimal damages to the buses themselves. One of the drivers did get ticketed for careless driving according to one of the troopers that was on the scene. That sounds about right. It sounds like someone was definitely not paying attention to what they were doing.
Alright guys. That’s all we’ve got for this crazy report. Luckily, it sounds like everyone that was involved in the accident will be ok. Stay tuned for more Disney World news. Be sure to follow us on our Disney World News Facebook page for more Disney World news by Clicking Here.
