New ‘Side Effects’ Movie Delivered Amazing Storyline,Twists,Drama & More
New ‘Side Effects’ movie delivered amazing storyline, twists, drama & more. Open Road Films released their new drama/psychological thriller flick, “Side Effects,” into theaters this weekend. I just watched it,and thought it was an amazing film, and much better than I thought it would be. The storyline was really impressive, serving up major twists and intrigue. It stars: Jude Law, Rooney Mara, Catherine Zeta-Jones,and Channing Tatum.
In the new flick, character Emily Taylor (Rooney Mara) is a 28 year old wife of character Martin (Channing Tatum). Martin has just been released from prison after serving a 4 year prison sentence for insider trading, and quickly attempts to regain his lost wealth. They seem ok at first. Then Emily, all of a sudden, tries to harm herself by driving her car straight into a freaking brick wall.
Next thing we know, she’s in a hospital getting heavily questioned by Jude Law’s psychiatrist character Jonathan Banks as to why she tried to harm herself. The only he would let her go, is if she would visit him a couple of times a week for some serious psychiatric help. From there,he started prescribing many different medications for her supposed depression. However, she complained that none of them really worked well and that they made her act weird. Finally, she asked to be put on a drug ,called Ablixa, after a friend suggested it to her.
Then things seemed to be fine for a little while until she started sleep walking and acting even more weird, but she refused to be taken off the drug, and eventually stabbed her husband to death while she supposedly sleep walked. As you can imagine, that caused a big stir among just about everyone; a whole case went down. She ended up in prison, waiting for a trial. The whole 9 yards.
Eventually, she got sent to a nuthouse instead of prison. Shortly after that, the big twist started to unfold as Jonathan continued to investigate the case, because it was ruining his practice and his life. The investigation eventually led to a wild conclusion, where we find out that Emily was in cahoots with her lover and female psychiatrist Dr. Victoria Siebert (Catherine Zeta-Jones) to kill off her husband and then eventually get off due to psychiatric reasons.
However, Jonathan made Victoria turn on Emily when he found out the truth, thus causing Emily to turn on Victoria, which spawned a whole other scheme,in which Emily set up a deal with Jonathan to set up Victoria to get busted. Then in one final twists,Jonathan turned on Emily by not honoring their deal, and sending her away for good to rot in a nut house. Lol! It was just amazing. I never saw more twists and turns on a professional race track.
Also, I think Rooney Mara is a terrific actress. She plays these intense drama roles to perfection. I also liked Jude Law in this. Again, I never got bored during the movie, which is saying a lot as i do often get bored during long, drawn out drama flicks, but this one was quite different as I found it to be highly intriguing every step of the way, right until the very end. I gave the movie a solid A grade. Stay tuned. Follow us on Twitter by Clicking Here. Follow us on Facebook by Clicking Here. Follow us on Tumblr by Clicking Here.
